Sean,
Define "love." Is it something that you can fall into? Is it a noun? ............ Or, as the Bible teaches, is it something that you do? Is it a verb?
I did not FALL in love with my wife as much as I chose to love her. I chose to love her above all other people on this earth, even our children.....
There was, of course, a chemistry that drew us together in an animalistic way but that grew ..... it grew very quickly into a love of action and dedication that is never found in the chemistry type of love.
Relationships that are based on what happens to you do not last. Relationships based on what you do last forever.

Sad but true:
--- Because at some level we are stupid
--- Because at another level we are masochistic
--- Because simple sex is not going to work. We have to embrace the suffering that goes along with it.
On a brighter note:
--- God gave us this mechanism to prove to us that he exists.---- Falling in love enables men and women to be involved in the care of the offspring.
--- It makes life interesting.

Why not. What's better in life than love? Is there anything more personal than finding that someone fills your heart so completely with just a word? a look? a touch?

from my experience it's because we're sad little beings that cling to one another because of some stupid chemical reaction. I don't plan to make that mistake again.
