I am a healthy 31 year old woman.. sometimes, I have a really hard time taking a deep breath.. when this happens, I drive myself crazy trying to get a satisfying deep breath, and end up making myself dizzy!! has anyone ever had a similar problem.. my doctor doesn't have any explanation,

Its hard to say what is causing something like this - there just aren't any obvious medical conditions that cause shallow breathing without the presence of other symptoms. The only thing I can think of is just pure speculation - that this is caused by constricted breathing, as a result of allergies, sinus congestion, or just a bad habitat.

Shallow breathing can trigger an anxiety response that makes the breathing even more shallow an rapid - leading to hyperventilation (which is the reason for dizziness). This may be way off the mark, but you might take a look at some info on anxiety and see if this might be the problem. In any case, you may benefit from practicing slow, deep, breaths when the problem isn't occurring.

check for a mold allergy.
I'm serious. My husband had a problem like that and it took 14 days in the hospital to diagnose!
