He was speaking light into existence. This is the method of God's creative power.
"By the Word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath (or Spirit) of his mouth, all their host." (Psalm 33:6)

That is a scene in the pre-time. Thats where the meaning of the triune God comes from. If you read the passage further, you will notice the other members of the trinity. One, the Sprit hovers on the surface of the deep; two--Jesus is that light--consider John 1--the world was made by Him

He was talking to himself .Adam and Eve seem to have had he capacity to talk and undersand speech on the day of creation itself .So we can assume that man and woman were created after speech was born! and that the human species were able to talk from the day the world was created ! A wonderful invention of Mosses .He deserves a postumous award of a Noble prize .

it was a commandment, words coming from His mouth are done. and who told you there was no one in existence then? haven't you heard of the angels who've been in existence at that time before the creation, fallen angel lucifer, how God made angels choose if they'd rather go with Him or lucifer? these are not in Genesis, for Genesis recounts what happened here on earth. there were heavenly creatures already at that time. read Isaiah.

God is a being in relationship to us Christians. So it would be Jesus look at the verse that says "let US make man in OUR image--this just goes to point out that Jesus was always eternal

He is talking to Christ and Micheal, who helped God form the earth. Adam and Eve were there in Spirit. We now know that Adam was called Micheal before he had a body, so Adam was included in this talk.

He didn't really need to be talking to anyone. The Almighty made a command and it was done. He said "Let there be light" and there was light.

so to some up the Christian response, he wasn't talking to anyone, it was an act. Except that he was talking to the angels. Way to be consistent.
My favorite part was when He decides he did a good job of it. "And it was good." Good thing he didn't have to do it over, that would have been embarassing.
