Shouldn't you be high on God and not need such mind altering drugs?

If God is in you, shouldn't you naturally be filled with joy?

If you say this is a medical condition, I will punch you...

Because you say being gay is a choice..so being depressed must be a choice too...

Sorry folks, can't have it both ways!

One can't just snap out of being depressed (or gay IMO)
Anti depressants are not mind altering drugs. They are drugs that regulate serotonin and norepinephrine, chemicals in the brain. Some may think, Why doesn't god Just heal me, i must not be a good enough christian. Well god also provides us with other people, and resources to help us. He wants us to be proactive in our recovery etc. He's not going to just spoon feed us everything in life. I like the saying "god helps those who help themselves." The miracle comes when we listen to god and obey him.
Imagine the difference in the situation with the TX lady if she'd just have been on anti psychotics. She would still be praising God and loving her children.

>>Are mind/mood altering medications like Proszac(sp?) really necessary for the born-again Christian.?

Is a cast necessary for the born-again Christian's broken leg?

>>Shouldn't you be high on God and not need such mind altering drugs?

You would be trading one dependency on another. No one should be HIGH on anything. Anti-depressants don't get one HIGH. They correct chemical imbalances in the brain. Like anti-biotics correct bacteria imbalances.

Yes, depression is a medical condition. If you ever talked to people who have had loved ones who killed themselves because they couldn't control their brains and the ways that it can become imbalaned.

As far as gays, I think that, IF it is a chemical imbalance that causes one to feel that they were born with a desire for someone f the same sex, ACTING on that desire IS a choice.

Clearly you have no understanding of Christianity. Some people are born with a tendency to depression, but as long as they don't act on it, Jesus will still consider them for admission to Heaven. Hate the depression, love the depressed.

Christians are deluded. They can't be "high on God' because their God doesn't exist. That's why some of them take drugs.

Right. And why do they think that "god" would have created the physiological weakness for depression? That would be mean.
