If it is a new vehicle ask to see the true invoice. If it is a stand up dealership they will show it to you. Make a reasonable offer based on that. Do a little research before hand to make sure the number they show you is close to what you find on your own. From there it should be easy sailing. Always have your own financing before hand, and tell the dealer if they can beat your rate you will finance with them. Be wary of Finance and Insurance products. GAP insurance is a wonderful purchase, however.

That is an art. One thing is to know the actual cost of what you are trying to buy. Know what the dealer paid for it, and then you know about how much you can argue for. Infromation is king in the art of negotiation. Learn all you can, that will give you a better position.
