I like the taste. But I don't like stringy outside. There has to be a way to make it no so stringy :-))

Make sure you cut off the bottom inch or 2. If I have especially tough asparagus, I will skin it. That takes away most of the stringy issue.

If I have time, I like to grill mine in a foil pan, some butter in whole ot half spears. The same can be done in the broiler. It goes quicker if you microwave for a few minutes first.

In a hurry, I cut into 1-2 inch chunks and boil/steam in a covered pot with an inch or so of water. Drain before serving.

Try this recipe:

Arrange asparagus spears in a single layer in a shallow baking dish, brush with olive oil. Bake in 450 oven until tender - 10 to 12 minutes. Drizzle with lemon olive oil. Shave shards of parmigiano reggiano cheese over the asparagus. Serve.
