Firstly with the rate at which Carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide are being released into the atmosphere, there is going to be a huge temperature increase. The increase will cause droughts and floods and this will result in many deaths. As the temp continues to increase, humans beings will adapt but if the rate accelerates, we won't be able to adapt quickly enough so we will die off. With toxins being released into the air and into water bodies, we are likely to be attacked by new diseases and we will experience some negative mutations. frogs in lakes along fields in America are already mutating due to chemicals from fertilizers.

Life will not be dead. I have confidence that people will overcome the worst pollution problems. The only reason we have so much pollution now is there are so many people. If we had 100 times fewer people we would have 100 times less pollution. So pollution is not the end of life, it is the result of life. In a way it is an indication of the amount of success of life.

Get a grip and get a little perspective about things. There is far less pollution in the United States and Europe than there was even 40 years ago. Everything (air, water, etc.) is better now than it has ever been in the last 150 years.
One of the problems with being a young squirt like most of those "woe is us types" in the Environmental section of YA is that you have not one iota of perspective. You all sit there at your computers reinforcing each others paranoia's about the environment.

I think that there is going to be more lung cancer because of all the crap that we inhale every waking minute of our lives. I think that the population will go down because there will be less land (due to global warming and the rising of sea levels.) I think that all the cute little animals will be gone, leaving us with nothing to eat. And sadly, I think humans are too stupid to cooperate with each other to solve the pollution problem.

There was much more pollution from around 1880 until the 1960's when laws started to get enacted. There's less today than back in those times. Don't panic.

One of the reasons for men still being on this earth is his capability for adaptation. In the future, the lungs and lining of the esophagus might have to evolve in order to keep people breathing the pollutants, unless there are drastic changes in the way we care for our environment. Evolution takes a long time, so don´t expect to see any changes in your life time. At higher altitudes, people have larger lungs to be able to inhale more air, for instance in higher places in Bolivia and the Himalayas.
