Being humble is not bragging about yourself and never saying or doing anything that will hurt someone. No gossiping. It is very hard. Usualy you will enjoy being humble because it means doing the right thing. But not always. Doing the right thing doesn't mean something nice will happen to you. The only thing you should be proud of is helping another person. You couls probably be humble, though.

When I pray, I tell God I am humble..
I do not feel that being humble is a hard road. To me, its like slowing down, taking a deep breath and stepping back so I can receive information from God...

Yes you can.
You have to bite down on or let go of your ego., and pride. You put your self and views last, placing others above you.
You know when you do something, and you are proud of it, and you have a spring in your step, or you tell others about what you did........that is not being humble, that is your ego.
Being humble means letting credit go, do kind acts for others without any recognition of having done them.......and that's hard to do.

Humility, or the act of being humble, is difficult because it is a quality of the Spirit, and the Spirit and the flesh war against one another. Read Romans chapter 8 for a discussion on this. Also read Galatians chapter five in order to learn the lusts of the flesh and the fruits of the Spirit.
In order to walk in humility you must walk as Christ. this requires making everything of the flesh secondary to everything that is of the Spirit. You will actually find great joy in being humble because you will not attract the wickedness of the world. Your life will be quieter, more relaxed, thoughtful and productive. You will become a servant, rather than one who insists upon being served. There is great in serving others who are in need. This is the kind of joy and happiness that God intends for us. So, be humble and truly enjoy life. You will find that those things that you thought that you needed to make you happy were just trinkets that you can do without.

It's so hard because people don't like humble people. Part of being humble is stating your case in love and letting people make up their own mind about what you have presented. That's the duty of the Church, not to beat people into believing. Many people want to beat people into believing, or even kill those who don't believe as they do. You do what you know God has called you to do, relying on Him all the while, giving Him the glory for all that occurrs, and yes, you can have joy beyond measure, and certainly the approval of the God you choose to serve.

Trying to be humble is so hard for me because after I accomplish something like a good grade on a test or completing some project, I say "Wow I'm so good" instead of saying "I'm grateful that I was able to do so well." Also being humble means being teachable or open-minded. It is hard for me to change my ways when someone says I'm wrong.

I find being taught by other people is often difficult. Admitting I am wrong is also difficult at times. I am sure many people in this group find it hard to believe what others say, or admit they are wrong too.
I like this quote I got from the Internet.
"God will have a humble people. Either we can choose to be humble or we can be compelled to be humble."

Hello Prissy,
"Being humble" requires a person to give up Pride and put
others first----and, it MUST be done in sincerity.!!
Humans have the specific problem called "Ego", and we like
to nurture and embrace it. Humility is a hard road to take for
many people because they're not willing to give up their egos
and serve other people first. In other words, they are greedy,
selfish, and stubborn---just the opposite of "being humble".!!

Being humble is hard for alot of people because it one of the characteristics of God Christians dislike the most. Yes, I said Christians. Humbleness requires that you have to take alot of verbal abuse and not retaliate just like Jesus. When people did not like Jesus's messages they hurled insults at Him and even tried to through Him off a cliff once. But still He never retaliated. Even after they beat Him, spit in His face, whipped Him and hung Him on a cross, he said Father forgive them for they know not what they do. We have been taught from our youth to not take any stuff off of anyone. The idea of humbleness and humility is unacceptable for some. However, what some people do not realize is that humbleness is a awesome weapon in the hands of the believer. Why? Humble requires that you yield totally to the Spirit of God and when you do so, it obligates God to fight your battles for you. I remember I worked at this place in Hot Springs, Arkansas. This guy knew I was a Christian, however when ever he wanted to swear, curse, and cuss he would come around me and do it. He did it for a while and I did not say anything. I stayed humble. So, one day he came in and said to me, "I did not know you were a minister". I said, "who told you?". He said, the Lord spoke to me in dream and told me to stop cursing around you. He was very shook up. Eventully what happened was him and his wife repented and went back to church. This is why humbleness is so powerful. Your ability to humble yourself can open the door for God to use you and brings souls to Him. But, if I answer out of my own pride, then I have destroyed my witness and God does not get the glory. Sorry this was so long.
