What defines a hero to you?

A hero is someone who inspires others to be better people. To be brave, more charitable, more honest, more forthright, more courageous, more ethical, etc.

From person to person, it is different, as there are many things that can define a hero, or more specifically, the kinds of heros we identify.
MY mother is my hero, because of her love, dedication, strength and saving us from my father.
Gandhi is my hero, because of his care, love, hard work, idea of peace- he's an idol.
More unifying- Love or some kind of compassion is inevitably involed in the determining of a hero.
The definition of a hero is subjective.

A person who helps others even at the cost of his/her life. Our men and women in Iraq are my heros. Our firefighters are my heros. Our police force are my heros.
