Do you have to be baptised to be accepted as "going to heaven"? I am Protestant (non-denominational) and have never Baptised. Is this considered a "bad" thing?

The act of being baptized is for the sole purpose of publicly stating your "rebirth" in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It's a symbol of washing away ones old self and reemerging from the water a clean person working with a clean slate in life. You don't have to be baptized in order to get to heaven, but it feels good to have a physical action that goes along with ones faith.

Baptisim to go to heaven? My answer is No. Water baptism is a "WORK" which something that man does to please God and yet the Bible teaches again and again that a person is not saved by works.

When is a person saved? Is a person saved at the moment he believes on the Lord Jesus Christ or is a person saved the moment he is baptized in water?

Fact: Nowhere in the Word of God is there even a portion of a verse that even remotely refers to Infant Baptism.

No Baby was ever sprinkled in the Bible. Check it.

Just because some big “church” believes it does not necessarily make it correct theology. People will believe things that have absolutely no Biblical basis.

Baptism means nothing unless a person has received Jesus Christ as their Saviour. How can a baby show a good conscience towards God?

Baptism save a person as the Catholic church claims.

The Catholic Pope and his goons cannot unbiblically "infuse" the Holy Spirit into unbelieving babies through infant baptism.

Biblical Baptism means of spiritual renewal. How can a baby need a spiritual renewal?

Biblical Baptism is a public testimony to one's faith in Jesus Christ. How can a baby testify his faith in Jesus Christ? Can a baby talk?

No unclean person can enter God's kingdom! Do you think a priest can clean people with there sins ?

If we can get saved by baptism, then Christ's death was a waste of time. Galatians 2:21.

Pastor Billy says: simply if you have a desire for Jesus Christ you should naturally desire to be baptised and so the answer is yes.

The thief on the cross is at best an exception to the rule or at worst a misconception. We know that Jesus was the only one to come from father and the first to return to the father and he did so at Pentecost some weeks later after the resurrection. The words of Christ about the next day are "we will be in paradise" many people contrue this to mean heaven. Regardless I believe the thief had what is called a baptism of desire something that should be rare and not made the norm. Our baptism is the biblical understanding of begin born again and therefore all Christians should do the will of the Father and Son. No Christian believes baptism alone saves you.

"he who believes and is baptised shall be saved" thats what it says, therefore, if your not baptised, wouldnt that mean you wont be saved? Does that mean you will burn in hell if you dont? The bible confuses me unfortunately. It's because of passages like this that makes the different denominations. So if you dont understand it correctly will you be punished? no one can truly answer that. Everyone makes their own presumption. I was baptised in a lake, and then later sprinkled. Hmmmm. I bet you will get a variety of answers. If you go by the thief who was saved, then why worry at all, at the last minute you can repent so why worry at all? Follow your heart is best.

Yes you need to be baptized.

I have seen a lot of answers stating that the thief on the cross wasn't baptized & Jesus said He would see him this day in paradise. Paradise & heaven are not the same place.
There is a spiritual paradise & a spiritual prison that people go to until the war between God & Satan is over.

The scriptures say that you must be born again to be able to go to heaven.

JOHN 3:1-5
1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

We are taught to follow the teachings of Christ. Christ himself was baptized & He was without sin.
How much more need do we have to be baptized being with sin?

Most denominations require baptism, whether by immersion or sprinkling, as an outward sing that true repentance has taken place in your heart. Some require it for membership. But, baptism is not a requirement for entrance into heaven. There is only one requirement to enter heaven-that is to trust in God for your salvation and live in obedience to Him.

You should be if you are able , not necessary if you are let's say bed ridden Only the Father can decide The thief on the cross did not have time he died before he could but he did accept Christ. and that was enough for him. on the other hand you are not the thief on the cross. God had a plan for him and has one for you. Go and get baptized, it does not hurt.

"Is water baptism essential to salvation?"

While we should preach that all men are commanded to repent and be baptized (Acts 2:38), adding any other requirement to salvation by grace becomes "works" in disguise. Even though numerous Scriptures speak of the importance of water baptism, adding anything to the work of the cross demeans the sacrifice of the Savior. It implies that His finished work wasn’t enough. But the Bible makes clear that we are saved by grace, and grace alone (Ephesians 2:8,9). Baptism is simply a step of obedience to the Lord following our repentance and confession of sin. Our obedience— water baptism, prayer, good works, fellowship, witnessing, etc.—issues from our faith in Christ. Salvation is not what we do, but Who we have: "He that has the Son has life" (1 John 5:12).

baptisim is an outward sign to show that you cast off your old man your flesh and you are choosing to be reborn of the spirit as you are submerged under water your flesh dies and when you come up you rise born of the spirit which is of God. it matters to God. it says to God that you're saying yes to his will and yes to his ways. but to enter in to heaven you must first repent of your sins ask God for forgiveness ask Jesus to come into your heart and be your

Yes - it's very bad. If you aren't baptized God ignores you and you definitely won't go to Heaven. It's a total snub on him and he only chooses His Chosen People to go to Heaven, so you'd better go get born again before the rapture comes and you're left behind with all the sinners and heathens (you know: buddhists, muslims, jews, toaists, hindis - and everyone else who is also an idolater who doesn't believe in the One True God) on this hellish planet.
