What does it matter? Once the titles are unified, guaranteed, within a year they'll be split again.

In theory, a unified heavyweight boxing champ would also get more people interested in boxing again and thus set up bigger fights to make more money. Don King's all about money, so I'm sure he'll go for it even if temporarily.
Of course, I'm in line with the thinking of most fans that there isn't anyone out there capable of dominating the division. All I know is Don King is doing whatever he can to make sure that if anyone does end up unifying the heavyweight championship, he'll at least have options on the guy and will be ready to take full credit.

I think if King had a Heavyweight that everyone was dying to see, and could capture the public's imagination like he had in Mike Tyson in the mid 80's, then he would be trying to unify just like he did back then. He knew Mike would be an even bigger draw as undisputed champion. But with the division being what it is today, he's not in a hurry to have a unification series just yet. He's going to milk these guys as seperate champs as long as he can get by with it. And these guys don't seem to be willing to do what it takes to get in the ring with each other. First there was talk of a Wladimir Klitschko-Oleg Maskaev bout, but that fell through, then a proposed Klitschko-Nikolai Valuev match fizzled out rather quickly, so it makes you wonder if these guys really have the desire to face each other. It seems like they don't in my opinion, maybe they will sooner or later.

One problem with Don King saying he is going to unify the title: there are 4 champions and how many is he the manager of?
Valuev--is managed by Wilfried Sauerland (who had to team up with Don King to promote a few of Valuev's fights as agreed if Valuev beat Ruiz...but now King is out of the picture)
Wladimir Klitschko is not managed by King either
I really dont know who manages Briggs and Maskaev. either way, i suspect briggs will lose to Ibragimov (Golden Boy) on June 2 and Maskaev will lose to Samuel Peter or Vitali Klitschko (neither is managed by King)
So, unless Lamon Brewster has a comeback fight versus Wladimir (which is being rumored by Dan Rafael of ESPN), Ruiz, and Rahman comeback strong...I dont see King unifying the titles.
However, I do predict at least one unification bout by the end of this year.

Simple truth is the vampires make more money off multiple champions with multiple belts in the same division, and Don is Dracula to all the other bloodsuckers. Pancho is right, Don is going to get his, regardless of how it plays out.

All the champs want to unify the belts. (most do anyway) Think about it. You have the belt, people call you the champ, but there are other guys out there saying the same thing! It must drive those guys crazy.
