the past few days I have been feeling very ill. I work at a medical facility* and was able to check my blood pressure earlier today. my usualy blood pressure is 100/58 but today it was 140/60, should I be concerned? I've been dizzy and lightheaded all day and have been drinking water as I should and eating what I can.

Any ideas?

**I am not a medical person, I work in a different department**

the lower BP is normal for an active person. they may say there is a "norm" for BP, but everyone is different. If you are feeling dizzy, or lightheaded I would call the doctor just to be on the safe side. The fact that your BP is usually low and is high now, can be of concern. I don't care what anyone else says, If a low BP is normal for you, then see a doctor, I also recommend you retake that BP after you have relaxed for a while. Working in a medical facility can really cause a lot of stress, so take it again. Good health to you

120/80 is about normal and will go up and down according to activity.. I'd be a little concerned about the second number in each reading as that is a little low.. 140 is NOT high enough to be concerned with but a little high..

My normal BP runs 120/70...

I would just keep an eye on it, and maybe ask your dr if there is anything to be concerned about.. Like I said the second number I would be a little concerned about along with the dizziness, as if it gets too low it could suggest a stroke...

The lady that claims she's a nurse (dumpling)?? I would question that as if she really is a nurse she would be a little concerned about the second reading and the dizziness... Best bet is to ask your doctor as he is far more educated about these things.

memere.. good answer.. the nurse comment wasn't meant towards your answer which was a correct one.

140/60 is actually alot more normal for an adult than 100/58. Anything under 160/90 is considered normal for a healthy adult. If this continues to be bothersome check with your Dr.

Are you on ANY meds? Did you drink caffeine? Excedrin?

Stress can cause the higher number. As can pain.

Is your pulse also higher? (I ask cause I have tachycardia- which has caused me to pass out).

If you were just doing a bunch of walking and stuff around the office - it's possible that made it higher as well.

I'd be concerned about your second reading. It may be stress, check it again in an hour. If it's still high, find a doctor.

Each one seems a little extreme. One low and one high. I would check with a doctor.
