Your declare is pretend. Christians were making use of Sundays for communal worship and prayer lengthy before there replaced into an prepared "Catholic" church via over 2 hundred years. Even the famed seventh Day Adventist theologian Dr. Bacchiocchi got here across that the vast majority of Christians were making use of Sundays for this via one hundred forty A.D. and probably as early as 70 A.D. It replaced into no longer Jesus' teachings to His followers to keep the former covenant ten commandments. Christianity isn't about regulation, that's about residing via religion. Your declare that Christmas and Easter are pagan is a custom oftentimes observed as "Poisoning the properly." that's between the various approaches of deception the position human beings haven't any authentic information to back up their claims. Christmas is about celebrating the beginning of Christ. you may invalidate this depending on the alleged association of a few practices that would were shared via pagan religious practices. So what. an similar carry genuine for Easter. that's a social gathering of the shortcoming of life and resurrection of Christ. So enable's say, for arguments sake, that the alleged pagan trappings were bumped off and Christians began protecting company worship on Mondays. you may take area then, correct? in spite of everything, if there have been now no longer any pagan institutions, you may not have any project celebrating Christmas, Easter, and Monday worship, correct? Or could you presently seem for yet another reason to criticize Christians who do not trust as you? Who the following is judging God's fellow servants? you're. .

First off, Father K rocks. He always gives good historical and/or scriptural answers to this stuff. I am Catholic and i wish others did not practice this way(minimal attendance) , but i think it would be horrible if we turned anyone away on any day just because they weren't in Mass with us enough. I think it is very cool that some days are so Holy that people will attend the Masses regardless of how religious they are normally. Peace be with you.

I was raised in a Catholic home like that. I'm now a born-again believer and have long since left the Catholic church. But there are devout Catholics, and many who are born-again and have chosen to remain in the church.

It's not an excuse (far from it!!) - but the ancient Councils decided that the Easter Obligation was the barest of minimums needed to keep one's status as a "Communicant Member" of a parish.
Most Catholics know this from early Catechism training.
Also - Christmas is a holy day of obligation.

Because they live essentially pagan lives yet can't overcome the sense of nostalgia and 'comfort religion' that the Easter and Christmas ceremonies give.

Some people like myself, are catholic but dont always have time for church. we still believe in god, say prayers, and celebrate holidays but we know god will understand that we are pursuing our lives. alot of ppl skip church to sleep in, if that is what they want to spend their time doing then so be it. Easter and christmas are important to them and thats when they feel it is the best time for church

Because those are the main holy days of their deity. I go to temple only once a year - for Ganesh Chathurti. I have a small home temple that I do daily puja to.

Where do you do your research? I know for a fact many attend mass every Saturday and/or Sunday. Why do some "Christians" only attend church during those times? I know this for a fact.

I call them "holiday Catholics". I know many of them. It's usually a family obligation/Catholic guilt thing.
