Some seem to think so... feeding the ego and materialism to the detriment of the environment and everybody else. *sigh*

Great question and lots of good answers.

May I just add that to make ethanol takes millions of gallons of water (a day) and tons and tons of corn...Just so, we can run up and down the roads in our SUV's???

I think God just lost His lunch !!! There was a headline on my Yahoo homepage that reads: the earth's food and water is being depleted....We all need to get together and fight against ethanol and the corporate farmers that would use up food and water; to make fuel.

East of where I live a large corporation is trying to bully a small town into letting them set up an ethanol plant; which the little city is fighting against. The corporation does not care that the aquifer will be drained in short order or that our rivers will be dried up....

What do we have to do to wake people up? Do we have to wait until: Brian, Katie or Charlie on the nightly news cast -- tells us "It's all gone, folks"...

NO IT IS NOT. We were commanded to be stewards over this planet. It is our responsibility to keep it in good working order.
Basically, Jesus will have to come back and rapture the church because we failed so miserably. "If those days were not shortened, no flesh would have survived".

No, God made humans stewards of the earth, and it is not right, since we do not know when Jesus will return. It could be tomorrow or 100 years. Remember, the apostles thought the end was near 2000 years ago. And besides, is it right to destroy the beautiful creation God made us?

The word rapture is never mentioned in the bible. And I think you're supposed to take care of the planet.

No, if we destroy the planet, where would Jesus come to?

No. We are supposed to take care of God's creation! But no one has done a very good job.
