Now i'm not the type to make fun of over weight people and some are over weight because of their thyroid being out of whack now that i said that here's my question.
Yesturday at a grocery store i'm standing behind two huge women in late 20's or early 30's.
They were arguing about which diet pills they should try because at the check out there were like 15 choices of pills and meal replacement bars , drinks etc...Well they finally chose hydroxycut and a south beach meal bar.
I admit i got a little nosey so i looked at the conveyor belt and noticed ALL junk food, 4 -12pks sodas, chips with cheddar cheese dip, hungry man dishes the list went on, the only healthy item in there was TOILET paper lol.
Then cashier is ringing up items they both tell her to wait before subtotaling so they can find a candy bar on the candy rack.
Now my question is if you really want to lose weight and spending 34 dollars on pills what's with all the junk food. There is no magic pill that erases all the crap

It won't erase the junk food you just consumed.

So our tax dollars go to supply them with bigger seats in the airplanes and theatres, and while they take up the motor carts at stores from people who really do have a handicap.
Also why are we making it so easy to be fat these days.

People let themselves get fat, i'm tired of hearing lame exuses. Everyone has an exuse for everything bad thing they do.
Child molestors..because the were ignored by parents growing up.
Serial killers...because they were picked on in highschool.
Overweight people...because there depressed...really everyone get's depressed stop making exuses so people will think it's okay to keep doing what there doing.
if you really cared about these people tell them their killing themselves (tough Love ).
gluttony is so digusting ...one day a year for that , Thanksgiving the rest portion control should be our friend.
Wow didn't think this was going to be a heated debate.

it was not my intention to rant on and on but i felt i had to respond to the nasty comments i was receiving otherwise it would have been a short question.
Some of you really picked my question apart and twisted around to sound like i was being vicious and harrassing over weight people.
Sorry for asking a question didn't think that would make me the next HITLER!!!

hi there. Sounds like you're getting alot of crap, and I wanted to let you know that I am on the same page as you are.
The majority of overweight people have one thing in common. Laziness.
It is not important enough for them to take care of their health and/or bodies.I will never, ever change my mind about that.
What happens is that they see way too many people that get more attention, look better, or are taking care of themselves the way they wish they could.
They run to the store, or to a computer, and pay for what they think is a miracle drug that will make time skinny overnight.
( believing also that skinny is healthy for them. It is only if you are born that way!!)
When these pill purchasers realize that it doesn't happen overnight, that there may have to be some "getting off the couch" to exercise, or they have to learn better eating habits, the enthusiasm goes away, and often they end up heavier than when it all started.
Am I lieing??
I do know that some people have what may be "medical conditions" well, please be aware, that a medical condition is that makes one obese, has other signs, such as skin color changes, hair changes, texture changes, eye problems, etc..
These a few and far between.
Obese is fat all over, especially the belly, hip, thigh, and butt.
certainly not just this area.
The only people that I have seen with huge bellies and small bodies are the starving people across the world.
Don't ever feel bad about your opinion. You will get people mad, but it is only disappointment of themselves turned into anger at you. if they really got angry at themselves, then they would have to do something about it.
When they get angry at you or me, then they feel it is our bad attitude towards obesity, therefore relieving themselves of any obligation to take care of themselves.
same story as always, just a different century.

I see your point. Food just like alcohol, cigarettes, drugs and sex are addicting to many people. Some people start eating more when they "think" about going on a diet. I think that the issue is far more than the food itself. The junk food (or any other food) is like a fix to calm themselves down. Your right there is no quick fix pill that you can take. It's not easy to understand. The foods everyone eats is filled with fillers, hormones and God only knows what else. They put in hormones in the feed of the animals we consume and everyone reacts differently to this. Now why those two women were doing that is something we won't know. But I have a feeling that they believe the pills are a quick fix.Sugar is also addicting. I think that the food industries are just thinking about money and really don't care about the consumer as much as they want you to believe that. Your question was a good one. I'm overweight and I am doing my best to lose weight in every way. But I don't use diet pills etc. because I believe these things can really hurt someone whether you are overweight or just trying to keep your weight balanced. Have a great day!

For some people it is REALLY hard to lose weight. You try and try sooo hard and you see no results. Then you get depressed and sometimes food is the only comfort available. I do agree with you about some things for example at work today a heavy woman bought a diet coke and then turned around and bought a 4 pack Reese's peanut butter cup. I thought if you can buy something like that why not buy a fruit cup instead it is sweet but also good for you. I am not a skinny person by far but if you are not going to try to do something about your weight, than don't complain about it! In the end it may be a struggle to lose those unwanted pounds but at least you are trying to do something positive! For all those who are doing and not whining GOOD LUCK!!! (I need all the luck I can for my diet!!)

I am not going to fuss a you about anything, but I have a few things for you and mostly for the others. First and for most. I suffer form morbid obesity. Thant means I am more than 100 pounds over weight. And guess what I know I am fat. I have never taken a diet pill in my life and never will, what health I do have is important to me. I walk 1+ miles 5 days a week, eat off a salad plate to ensure my portions are the correct size and I wait at least 15 minutes before going for more, if and I say if I want more. Just because I am fat does not mean I am lazy. I gained 100 pounds in less than 5 months because of a hormonal imbalance. And guess what??? The weight doesn't come off just because I got the hormones I needed. And I can't take the hormones because my system will not tolerate me doing so. Excuses NO my fact of life YES!!. If I see someone who is really skinny I don't jump to the conclusion they are a dope feind or have an eating disorder. But before you judge those 2 women in line or complain about your tax dollars did you take into account that they may have given up? People quit when no matter what they doesn't work. And not everyone can go to the doctor or a dietian. And yes I can understand some of your confusion and there is something else I would like you to consider. Food is required to live, to feed our bodies. Food is also an addictive drug just like alcahol and tabacco, and all the illegal drugs out there, but the hardest thing to over come if you are a food addict is you can not cut food out of your life like you can the others. And those 2 ladies have set them selves up in a vicious cycle that will probably never end for them. And all the crap food is more than likely there way of bidding goodbye to all the food they say they will never eat again. But they will eat and drink all that in just a couple of days take the diet pills and in less than 8 days be back to there old ways. WHY?? Because that is what they know and what they feel satisfies them and what fills up that empty place inside. Please do not think I am jumping all over you. But if you have never been there then you would not understand. And I hope you never have to chance to understand.

I have to agree, For me obesity of the nature you explained has not pity for me. People who consume foods like that or at least in that quantity (because who doesn't like a candy bar every now and then) has no right to get upset when someones say they are fat. I saw a very large woman at a park last summer and she was carrying a 2 liter of coke (not even diet) on a power wheelchair going through a park, anyone see a problem? Those who assume you can do whatever and take some pills and be a healthy weight is wrong.

It is kind of comical isn't it about the Diet Pills and so true .. BUT
your tax dollars do not go towards theater seats , air plane seats ect .. but if you take a flight. or see a movie then you do , but it's about time they were making it more comfortable instead of cramming people in like sardines .. so for that one I thank them.
Not all over weight people are that way by chose and that is a fact and not everyone who resides in the US are tax payers .. you have to own property , or a business .. the tax deducted from your place of employment does not make you a tax payer and that money goes towards other things .
I am a smoker and I choose to smoke , I don't force anyone to smoke and don't complain about yellow teeth . If you look after your teeth there is no problem..
looks like maybe you have a chip on your shoulder about something here other then what your whining about .....so get to the real point .

First of all you can be slim and trim and still be unhealthy. I know some overweight people who are healthier than some skinny people. Secondly have you ever thought that maybe they don't know how to eat healthy??? It is so easy for people to talk about others. Clean the trash from your yard before you worry about the trash in someone else's yard if you catch my drift. And just to let you know there are some pills that help to curve the appetite. It is easier said than done. You have to have the will power and the knowledge of what foods to eat to aid in weight loss. I get sick of people coming down on overweight people because of what they eat. It is so easy for you to say... well if they stop eating this or that then maybe they could lose the weight. Well it's not that easy. In fact it's just like a drug addiction. A person's family history also plays an important role in their life as well. If there are heavy people all up and through a person's family then 9 times out of 10 that person will be overweight as well. You can eat the foods you enjoy and still be healthy at the same time. You just have to include eating the correct portions of food as well as exercising as a part of your daily activities. Instead of criticizing try educating others who don't know.

I have to agree. Overweight people in general don't annoy me, I've had an eating disorder since junior high. I have been at both ends of the spectrum and I know how hard it can be to change if you've got a problem. But I do get annoyed when people constantly complain about their weight but do nothing to change it, or when they think they can just eat anything they want and not exercise and still lose weight by taking a pill. With the exception of thyroid disorders and other conditions, most people don't need to take pills - just start eating better and get more exercise and the weight will come off. America is getting lazier in many aspects of society and it's very frustrating.

The girls probably felt bad for themselves watching people stare at them, so they had 2 look like they were trying to fix their problem. Having all junk food and talking about diet pills doesn't do ****. I totally agree with u. Its just like the smokers. They think they keep smoking but if they chew the gum or wear the patch they will b o.k., its disgusting. My opinion, the only way 2 fix it is to stop being nice 2 them. I'm not discriminating against the,I'm trying to help, honest. But, when they drop something let them pick it up, let them walk up the stairs to work, or a store or where ever. For those with a thyroid problem, u r in another bracket. It was not ur fault u gained the weight in the 1st place.
