A person who gossips is mean-spirited, unreliable, and not a true friend....

"Don't be a gossip, but never hesitate to speak up in court, especially if your testimony can save someone's life." Leviticus 19:16

"A gossip tells everything, but a true friend will keep a secret." Proverbs 11:13

"Stay away from gossips-- they tell everything." Proverbs 20:19

"Pray to me in time of trouble. I will rescue you, and you will honor me. But to the wicked I say: You don't have the right to mention my laws or claim to keep our agreement! You refused correction and rejected my commands. You made friends with every crook you met, and you liked people who break their wedding vows. You talked only about violence and told nothing but lies; you sat around gossiping, ruining the reputation of your own relatives." Psalm 50:15-20

I hope this answers your question! God bless you!

Read 1 Peter 4:15-17 and then read 4:14. That is the second mention that I have found. The other is in the commandments "Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness...."

Those are the only 2 I have found, not saying there's not more.

Proverbs 11:13: A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

Proverbs 20:19: He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

1 Timothy 5:13: And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.

Gossip is a sin. First and foremost, God considered gossip to be such a serious matter that He included the avoidance of it as one of the Ten Commandments. "Thou shall not bear false witness against your neighbor" (Exodus 20)

1. Timothy 5:13" And besides they learn to be idle, wandering about from house tohouse, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not."

One doesn’t have to be a young widow to fulfill the description of they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not. Those who spend much time talking about other people’s lives need to get a life of their own. “It is no sin in any case to marry, bear children, and take care of a family; but it is a sin in every case to be idle persons, gadders about, tattlers, busybodies, sifting out and detailing family secrets.” (Clarke)

2.Thessalonians3:11 says For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. 12 Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread.

The bible says you aren't supposed to gossip. I don't remember the verse, but it's in there. Funny that church is where most gossip takes place huh?
