Evidently, facts mean little or nothing to you as a group. Hopefully, not as individuals.

You have proven my theory. I expected that the best Atheists could do would be personal attacks.

Thanks.

I know it is very tempting to stand up for ones self because of the hateful "Christian, you are stupid!" remarks being made here in this site. But it is more important to remember that all things are possible with Christ who strengthens us, so therefore I can is more important then IQ!

That question is impossible to answer. Several scenarios could be suggested: One is that by nature, atheists are not wired for spirituality. They are not willing to embrace belief by faith alone. You might be surprised to learn that many atheists and agnostics once were members of a faith, whether Christianity, Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc. Having been members of religions/cults, some people get turned off when they use their brain and open their eyes. Brainwashing, mind control, and manipulation are often a dark undercurrent of many religions/cults. It's just that when a person hears over and over the same scripture, or the meaning of that scripture taken out of context, they might believe it. Brainwashing weaves a spell over those who are not prone to think for themselves. Once a person sees the mind control going on, they are apt to trash all religion.

Another theory is that there is a "God-gene." Neurologists have noted that a certain area of the brain lights up when one meditates or thinks along the line of spirituality. Apparently, some people do not have this phenomenon happen. It probably can't even be called a theory...maybe an idea.

I believe in God by faith. As far as NDE's go, I have read book after book. One of the most interesting ones was written by Maurice Rawlings, a cardiologist. However, since NDE's differ according to culture and religion, it's hard to make a case for any specific religion.

Also, elitism ("my IQ is 172) is not going to gain you any supporters.

I don't know if it has anything to do with how smart you are, it's what is in your heart, what you believe personally! As for near death my mom had 3 cancelled death certificates on me (all suicide), I didn't see any tunnel and I didn't see a light, but I was sent to the most beautiful place, a meadow like, the animals were all friendly, the few people there were friendly but respected my space.....and then I was snatched back and told that my job wasn't finished, I had to go back. I sat up in the ER 2x and on the 2nd time he told me if I'm going to slash my wrists to at least do it right the next time, and showed me! The 3rd time was what stopped me from doing that anymore! I came to on the ME table as he and his assistant walked away to go to lunch!!!
I have seen what the Christians call Hell, but it is not what they say, there are at least 7 levels which the top levels are quite pleasant. They are for resting until judment, the bottom levels are unspeakable, as in I don't have the intellect to know the words that would describe it! It is horrible and that is an major understatement.

Hi, Mormon, I have met many Mormons and they have all been very nice and I have no problem with you. BTW I am eclectic. I was raised in the military in multicultural and multispiritual environment and was encouraged to learn about other religions besides just Baptist. I am a conglomeration of spiritual beliefs, but I do lay claim to Wiccan, and I am a much better person for it, if it please you, I am a kinder, gentler person as a heathen then I ever was as a Christian.
I can't boast of a high I.Q. because of an allergic reaction to something someone slipped me while in 9th grade (my math tutor thought it was cute to slip the kid some shroom juice) and it caused alot of problems for months and after the Drs. compared the EEGs from before and after, they diagnosed that the damage was significant but not disabling.

Having a high IQ does not mean that you are smart. You can have a high IQ and lack any common sense.

For example, I've seen atheists claim (with supporting evidence) that atheists tend to be better educated than theists. I've not seen a claim that having a high IQ makes it impossible to be a theist. That would be a stupid argument - hence your straw man attack on atheists.

If you're going to use your (alleged) IQ as a a counter to a fictional argument, then you really don't deserve any respect.

And thae argument 'I have a high IQ and know God exists, therefore he does' is pretty illogical. I'd have thought your IQ test would have included logical tests, or was it a test on a random website?

I do like your last point though - about Mormons having a higher average educational level than most Americans. I'd like to see supporting evidence and I'd be interested to see if it is higher than the average for atheists.

I have wondered that my self. And I have recently heard that the more education a Mormon gets the more active they tend to be in church.

My guess is that because they cannot understand where we are coming from, or just refuse to take the time to learn, they make various assumptions.

You also have to take into account the group of atheists who became such after getting offended for some reason and have been spending every day of their lives letting their hate for what was done to them govern their every decision. Thus letting those who offended them continue to hurt them, many times long after the contact with the person(s) in question.

I dont see any facts. I see a claim, backed up with no facts... You CLAIM your church has a higher educational level than most Americans, yet you fail to demonstrate that.

Your personal experience doesnt prove squat. You might have a high IQ, but you obviously have little command of Logic - if you did, you'd know that a personal experience doesnt mean a thing. Also, NDE's prove nothing. They are the imaginations of a dying mind.

Its amusing, your way of thinking: I have a large IQ, I have felt God, so then everyone else is wrong and I am right. Thats quite funny, brah.

okay. God exist. and you can go to Buddhists and Hindu web sites and books and have people talk about merging with the transcendental reality(god) that is behind it all. /Mormons have the only sects in U.S. that have sanctioned pedophilia and bigamy?/the existence of God doesn't mean that the Mormon religion is true in its teachings./172 IQ just means your brain processes information better but doesn't mean the information is correct.Q?was this the Mormon IQ test given by Mormons, only for Mormons?

Where did you get the statistics about your church members from? I think your views are elitist, and I am glad I am not a Mormon, if your religion is teaching you to flaunt your "so called" intelligence in this manner. Most of the people I know who know and love God try to include others, not set themselves apart. God had nothing to do with your statement.

Well, I've made it into Mensa (top 2% IQ-wise of the nation), got a 35 on my ACT, am one of the top-ranked quiz bowl players in my state, and I have a strong belief in God. (I can't really prove those things to you here, so you'll have to take my word for it.)

Anyone who's Christian is an idiot? Come on, people: Thomas Aquinas? St. Augustine? Blaise Pascal? Abraham Lincoln? C.S. Lewis? These people were idiots?

172? hmmmm.....

172 (one hundred and seventy-two) is the natural number following 171 and preceding 173.

Although a noncototient, 172 is the sum of Euler's totient function φ(x) over the first twenty-three integers.

172 is a repdigit in base 6 (444).

In aviation, and in particular in the aviation-frequency radio exchange (pronounced as one-seventy-two), the number 172 is associated with Cessna 172.

"My IQ is 172.... I took the IQ Test for dummies.... My 2 year old son got a 165. Wow, my family is filled with brilliance"

Having a high IQ & being involved in an ancient religion makes you more stupid than you appear to be by flaunting your IQ on Y! Answers R&S Section.

I liked what someone said in another answer.... You can't have a Mormon without a MORON!

Edit:
What people experience when their brain is technically dead is hardly a "fact" that a god exists. Being someone of such a high IQ you SHOULD be a bit more objective towards your so called "facts." Instead you throw skepticism out the window & you use these near death experiences as proof that a supernatural being exists. As i mentioned in a previous answer of mine, christians will take ANY evidence they can get to prove their faith is real.

I think you need to retake that IQ test.... I think you got someone else's results.
