Anglican (a branch of Episcopalian), also called Church of England.

The 'state' religion is Christianity, specifically Church of England (in the US known as Espiscopilian). The monarch is also the head of the Church of England - so must be a member of the church. Quite a lot of older English people would consider themselves as nominally 'C of E'.

Having said that, I don't think that Christianity is considered the norm as it is in the US. It is much more socially acceptable to be an atheist in England than in the US.

There has been a lot of migration from the Middle East and Asia, so both Islam and Hinduism are growing in that country.

EDIT
Looked it up on the 2001 UK census (England and Wales)
37.3 million Christians
7.7 million no religion
162 000 follow Islam

Theoretically its C of E but I would question that.

Most are only Christians because the church makes a wonderful background for the wedding photos and their schools do better in the league tables.

I think you can safely say that C of E is the official religion, but that might not mean very much.

One of Queen Elizabeth II's titles is "Defender of the Faith".
