We are children of God.

Those who believe there is no more need for prophet is like saying God does not care about us, and quite contrary to what the Bible teaches. There is no scripture say that prophet is no longer needed, rather there is scriptures say there is a continues need for prophets.

7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
(Old Testament | Amos 3:7)

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
(New Testament | Ephesians 4:11 - 12)

There are still a lot of prophets. Go to any major city in North America and you will find these prophets.
Usually on the side of the road in a depressed area of the city, holding signs that say things like, repent now, the end is near, etc.
They are still prophets. You know, mentally insane.
God talks to these people all the time. Just ask them.
Now, the real christian double standard comes into play. They will call the person insane and not listen to them. Why.
But when a holy roller dresses up with his hair slicked back and a cable show to boot and preaches the same message as the dirty guy in the city and also claims to talk to god, plus he wants all your money. the Christians believe him.
Go figure? You Christians, if nothing else you certainly are entertaining.

There are and He is.
Ephesians 4:11-13 tells us straight out that there will be prophets till God's ppl are perfect and we definately are not there yet. It says "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: "

The gift of prophecy is very active and recognized on many churches today. Not everyone who gives a word of prophec is a true prophet of course any more than everyone who picks a guitar is a gifted musician.

You may want to look at www.kimclement.com, www.firemountain.cc, www.wadetaylor.org to "meet" 3 veery different ppl all of whom God has used in prophetic ministry in our day. You may also find material on www.pinecrest.org that gives you more understanding.

I believe in prophets. I believe that we still have a prophet on the earth who still talks to God and still receives revelation. I have found this to be a great comfort, particularly in such a crazy and tumultuous world....a religion without a prophet is like a ship without a rudder.

There is a prophet on the earth. His name is Gordon B. Hinckley. He is the prophet of the world and the president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I know this man to be honest, benevolent and true in his dealings with all men. He is a wonderful person and a spiritual leader to millions throughout the world. Why would God abandon his people after Jesus was crucified. God has always spoken to His children and he continues to do so to this day.

some Lubavitchers concept Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson replaced into the messiah yet then he died in 1994 and now some human beings say he replaced right into a merely yet another prophet. Others think of he continues to be the messiah or that he will return because of the fact the messiah.

Prophets existed before Christ came when we didn't have direct access to God.

Now because we've been reconciled there needs to be no one intercessor for us but now we have direct access to God through Christ.

We can now read and talk and walk directly. We are all called to instruct, admonish and equip one another. All saints are called to go or send to the mission fields.

Well, from Islam's perspective, Muhammad (SAW) was the seal of the Prophets. There will be no more. And this is mainly because Islam is for everyone and the Qur'an isn't corrupted with human hands. This why Muhammad (SAW) is referred to as the "Seal of the Prophets."

Good question.
