I have got a huge library of books and CDs at home. There are so many of them that I do not know whether I have lent them to someone or if they are still in my possession. I am looking for some small, user friendly software to categorize and arrange my library. Please help.

What Number of Books are We talking about?
If it is less than 10,000 then Excel can take care of Whats out, whats in, whats there.
If you need more, Then Use Access; The Templates for this sort of Book Management are available at the Office Template site at MS Office.com

Forget software. There's a wonderful website called LibraryTHing. You can catalog up to 200 books or albums for free. For $25.00 membership, you can catalog an unlimited number. The site is fantastic, and has a lot of wonderful features. Check it out.

Well, if you want to go whole hog, looking into KOHA (http://www.koha.org/) or Evergreen (http://open-ils.org/) which are Open Source ILS systems that are used by many actual Public and Private libraries around the world.
