i really need to get my washing out, as its a really nice day, but there are wasps hovering around the garden and near the line.
my boyf says, if you leave them alone, they will leave you alone, which isnt the case, i seem to attract them, and they dont seem to bother him at all, so he thinks i am exaggerating
i think they have some sort of plan of attck on how to annoy me, i dont mind bees as they seem to just fly by, but the bloody wasps just seem to hover around me, what can i do, need to get the washing out.?

In all honesty? Not very much.
Some people are more attractive to wasps. I think they are attracted to carbon dioxide and particular colours, odours etc.
The most important rule: avoid anything yellow. Don't wear anything that has a single bit of yellow/orange on it. the wasps will hover about it like a shot. Similiarly, your laundry might be using luminescent additives that make wasps even more attracted! So check what your washing with. (things like whiter then white etc)
Certain shampoos can also attract them very quickly so don't wash too often.
Keep an eye for where there are flowers and avoid those areas. Wasps are too busy gathering food to bother with you generally.
If a wasps stings you don't panic, just add some vinegar and you'll be fine (unless your allergic that is, in which case hospital asap)
If all else fails, get a tumble dryer.

At this time of year they are the drones which won't sting you (I'm in Scotland). However this will be a problem for you come the summer. I agree that you should check for a bike (wasp nest) in case they are nesting nearby and have it removed - if you have an attic in your house they may be there or, perhaps, in your roof beams. Once the flowers are in bloom in your garden they should be more interested in them. It is a good idea to plant some wasp friendly flowers in another area of the garden so that they go there instead or the jam idea is good, but it may attract more wasps into your garden.
Sadly it is just something we have to put up with.

you make me laugh, i doubt there is a conspiracy of killer wasps there to get you.
Do you have a lot of flowers or other plants in the garden, removing them may remove the wasps in the future, as for now I would just go out there and be brave, but just to be on the safe side make sure you are fully covered, hat shirt etc.
Use a badminton racket if you have to, or bucket of water to through at the wasps

figure out where they are nesting, if they've built a nest close by you can pay someone to kill it.
wasps are attracted to apple and other fruit trees because they feed on the fruit, so if you have any of those nearby that could be the problem.
there are commercial wasp-traps you could hang around the yard to get rid of them but if there's a nest of them nearby they will just keep coming back.

Your boy is right . Look for there nest and get up early on a cook morning and attack them then. If it is 50 deg. F. or lower u can take a broom and knock there nest down and step on it ,never try this if it is warm enough for them to fly about. Good luck.

I have the same problem, i think they are attracted by the smell of clean washing, or if you are wearing sweet smelling perfume.
I tried going out armed with fly spray, cruel but it kept em away. Doesnt work as good as indoors but not bad.

Fill a nearly empty jar of jam, jelly if you're American, with water. Wasps are attracted to the jam and drown in the water.
