explain to your mum that you cant help talking in your sleep and that when you do you havent got control over what you say. if you do swear prehaps it would help if you stop in your day to day use and eventually it wouldnt be in your vocab as much.
Talking in your sleep is called 'somniloquy'. It can happen with sleep walking. If you or someone you know is endangering themselves when they sleep walk, then a doctor should be consulted.
Sleep talking is a form of sleep disorder. Most sleep disorders are related to one or more of the following:
stress
drug and alcohol use, including caffeine
bad sleeping routines
depression or anxiety
Here are some things to try to help you get a more peaceful sleep, and not reveal your secrets to people in ear-shot:
Try to reduce the stress in your life. Change can be hard, but getting support to work out strategies is a good start. Check out our topic Counselling to learn more.
Try some relaxation techniques. Check out our topic Stress and relaxation for some tips.
Cut out the drugs and alcohol. This includes caffeine, especially at night. And remember, some tea has more caffeine than coffee.
Get some regular exercise. Try to do it during the day, as late night exercise can cause more sleep problems.
Avoid large meals at night.
Get your routine sorted. Go to bed and get up at around the same time.
Don't do work or read in bed during the day - keep the bed for sleeping.

If you are in a dream state, this can happen because you feel the need to thoroughly express those particular words. There is nothing you can do to prevent this. This means that you are getting a lot of healthy REM sleep which is good for you.
Your dreams are an outlet for your deep down emotions. If you are cussing out loud in your sleep than you apparenlty have some built up tension that you are simply getting off your chest. It's not your fault if you say something rude or "expressive". I think it's funny to hear people talk in their sleep!

I hate when I do this as it wake me up. It fun with other people as I try to start a conversation with them.
I not sure it can be prevented, it probably is psychological in some way. Maybe worry or excitement. To be cussing I would think you do this often when you awake. So, try to cut down some, "Think before you Speak", but, I just guessing, I not around you.

You just need to live the most upstanding moral life you can possibly live. That way you don't have to worry about what you're going to reveal while talking in your sleep. Live by the maxim: Never do anything you wouldn't want published in the newpaper.
