2 pounds a week is the safest.

Each pound is equal to 3500 calories so you need a calorie deficient of 17,500 over the week.

So if you burn 2000 a day normally and eat 900 calories a day that is equal to losing: 7,700 calories or 2.2 pounds in a week. Thats barely eating. That leaves 9800 calories to burn. Thats 1400 worth of exercising you have to do each day with no energy from food. Almost impossible. Thats for true fat pounds though. Luckily you have a short term solution.

We're over 90 % water so you need to dehydrate yourself. No salt, no cafeine including soft drinks, coffee tea. Drink lots and lots of water (It'll work because you'll be getting water and your body will not feel the need to store it) and maybe even take a water pill. Asparagus is a natural duiratic so it will help get rid of some access water as well. Doing this with exercise & food limitations should help you drop 5 pounds easily.

I'm losing weight and will do this before something important when I want to wear something that still fits tight.

Safely? Just one week? Not every week, right? It's not safe if you expect to drop 5 pounds every week. The secret (that at least works for me) is the food and exercise (ah that...everyone knows!).

1) Allow just one serve of processed carb each day and the rest of 3 serves would be carbs from fruit (in between your meals). This processed carb would have to be eaten within 2 hours of exercise, to ensure you burn all the carbs and nothing left (left over carbs in your body would turn into fat)

2) example of your daily menu would be like this:
- breakfast: 1 banana, then wait for 30 minutes, drink a glass of milk (make it half skinny milk, half full cream)
- brunch: 2 plums
- lunch: a steak or chicken breast, the size of your palm (steamed, boiled, or grilled - no oil) and plenty of vegies
- before exercise (before dinner): two slices of multigrain bread with low-fat cheese (no butter, no jam), if you're still hungry, chew some celery sticks and carrots (they're healthy and satisfying)
- an apple after exercise
- dinner: tuna salad - no carbs
- before sleep: one glass of skinny milk

3) drink plenty of water, not the whole lot, but sip it every ten minutes or so. Just ensure each day you have 3 littres of water

4) moderate walk for 20 minutes before you weight lift, then do the skipping and running for 40 minutes after you weight lift. Make sure you sweat a lot at the end. EVERY DAY for that week. Don't do this for a long term (i.e. more than two months) as it's damaging unless you're an athlete.

Depends on how much you have to lose. If you only need to lose 5lbs there are ways of doing it, but you will lose lean muscle too. Worse yet you will probably gain back the 5lbs and more.

If your trying to lose a jean size or something the Kellog challenge is supposed to help you lose quite a bit! Personally I think you should take your time, buy yourself a nice "slimming pants" and work on the weight loss over a longer period.

Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.

no such thing as a one week diet for "fat loss". the first week of dieting 90% of the "weight" lost in the scale will be from water. for most to lose 5 lbs of fat with no muscle loss it would take at least 3-4 weeks

no more than 2 pounds, if you want it to stay off, just eat lots of fruit and veggies, protein, and you will loose 5 pounds before you know it.
