It depends. On the food pyramid, yes, it is a member of the protein (meat) group. As for the lenten traditions of the Catholic church, no, fish is not considered a meat. Therefore, you may eat it on Fridays in Lent. Chicken and poultry, on the other hand, are considered meat and are not to be eaten.

yes. any animal is meat. However a lot of "vegetarians" still consume it because it wasn't cruelly raised in filthy conditions like cows and chickens that suffer their whole lives. But fish can contain mercury and other metals depending on where they are from. They are like little sponges that absorb what is in the sea. you wouldn't drink sea water, would you?

yes it is meat. it bleeds if you cut it. people think it's not because they don't see them running around, but it's the same as eating beef.
