Lincoln Continental or Cadillac DST. The only time I rent cars is for a road trip.

If I was going to rent a car for fun, I'd try to get a Sebring convertible, a Mustang convertible, or a Miata convertible. I like convertibles, but the climate I live in makes them impractical, so it would be a blast to rent one for a warm, sunny weekend. The problem is, most car rental firms rent cars by class, not make and model. So it would be hard to rent any one specific vehicle. I remember once I reserved a Mustang convertible for a vacation in Colorado. My wife and I were going to be there a week, and we had a week's worth of luggage. When we landed in Denver, the car rental agency said they had no Mustangs left and they gave us a Miata. One look at that Miata trunk and we went back for a different car. Luckily, just then a customer returned a Mustang convertible and it all worked out for us.
