ive been going through some difficult times lately and I know my mom is trying to be helpful and supportive, but she is now telling me to look to god for help. i was raised catholic but as i grew up have become atheist. it seems she just wont accept this. I know she is trying to help, but talking to me about god isnt gonna do it. i am just wondering how to deal with this? anyone dealt with anything similiar with their parents?

I'm sorry that so many religious egg heads is trying to preach to you,My mother made us go to Sunday school every Sunday and to Church when we got to old for Sunday school.I resented the hell out of that,Just as soon as I turned 18, I moved out and never went back to church again. To all you parents out there you think your doing some good in all honesty your only trying to brain wash your kid to believe what you think is right. All your doing is turning your kids against the church as a whole.Tell your mom you love her and it was nothing she said or did for what you believe in now.it's just You go by what you can see and hear now not what happened 1000's of years ago.And it just doesn't make any sense to live your life through a book that was written by people that would cut off your hand if you steal something and would stone a female to her death for adultery.

Some times, people don't agree with the way their doctor wants to treat them either. Or they don't want to go to the dentist because it might hurt. Many times we find ourselves dealing with things we don't really like, but we have to.
I haven't the slightest idea why this is such a dilemma for you, though!
I can't imagine anyone not believing in God. What's probably happened to you is that you're disappointed because God hasn't come across the way you always want Him to. That's because He's all-wise.
Anyway. What's the problem? That's her way of trying and it shouldn't be causing you any harm! It really shouldn't bother you, should it?

Yes...I've dealt with this growing up. Even when you don't believe...or you are not sure____ there's still a lot of wisdom in the bible.... It's like a map....there are a lot of different routes to take in life...but the main roads are always gonna be smoother.
Your mom being older and wiser see's things clearer now and probably panics because she loves you.
You will work it out on your own...and in your own time....just like everyone else does.

that may no longer handy for numerous people. there are a number of internet content, books, and companies that would furnish you larger recommendations than a short message suitable here. See the well-known link under for some. it would desire to help in case you understood the exchange between "agnostic" and "atheist.." An agnostic thinks that we will not know if a god exists. An atheist does not sense in a god. the two positions overlap for the reason that they handle staggering places of thought -- skills (agnosticism) and concept (atheism). An agnostic does not sense in a god, and is as a result additionally an atheist. For appropriate gods (similar to Yahweh and Allah), we are able to logically prove that they do no longer exist for the reason that their definitions lead them to incoherent and as a result logically unbelievable. See the 2nd link. for the reason which you were raised as a style of Christianity, it fairly is exciting to hold close that there is not any maintain data that he even existed, and super data that he's merely a delusion. See the third link. lots of your determination will probable be universal on how maximum serious your intellectual integrity is, how stylish you're on your mom and pa, and how you think approximately they are going to react. some people who're each gay and atheist have mentioned that popping out as an atheist replaced into as quickly as greater durable and added on greater effective issues than popping out as gay. you will likely finally come to a selection to tell them. once you do, it's going to help to realize greater effective approximately atheism, and how all of us understand that each gods and saviors (including specially Yahweh, Allah, and Jesus) are myths. in the journey that your mom and pa are creationists (doubtful for Catholics), it's going to additionally help to realize greater effective approximately evolution.
