I have heard several pastors in the past year become "political" from the pulpit...endorsing specific candidates and/or a specific party.

If this is the wave of the future...shouldn't churches pay taxes like any other corporation?

Churches should pay supposed fee on tax from the government but the Roman Catholic Chruch are not paying their taxes on lands owned by them, on schools run and managed by them and other tax payment. It is a big lost to the government.

They are in the business of making money, so yes. The bible is spread around the world allready, people can see for themselves nowadays. The work done, they should close up shop, the teaching period over, the time of Grace is at an end. God will dry up thier great river shortly.

yes. Property taxes pay for schools and fire departments. Just as retirees must pay for schools, so, imho, should churches and yes, churches also burn just like retail, commercial and residential property.

If churches paid income taxes the only income they would have is that money they take in but do not spend on charitable objectives (i.e. advocacy would be taxed, yes). I think church members should have to decide how much they want their church helping the disadvantaged and how much they want it to advocate political agendas.

Yes, of course they should. An organisation is defined *legally* by this kind of behaviour. The church can't be allowed to rely on convention or some false sense of sanctity to protect it from the rules by which all others abide.

Yes! If they want to influence how the goverment is run, they should have to pay taxes to support it.

Besides where i live there are all these "ministries" created for the sole purpose of tax evasion.

many religious organizations have lost their tax exempt status because of their strong political ties. I think that a church that keeps itself properly separated from politics should maintain it's tax free status.

They should be taxed. I know two people that have opended church organizations & aren't religious at all they did it to shelter themselves from paying taxes.
