Doesnt taste as good. Not only that, if you read the bible, youll see that Jesus used yeastless bread and wine when He broke bread with the disciples.

I'm all for Beef Jerky but I think that V-8 would be a better alternative to pig's blood. Throw in some vodka and that would even drag this atheist to church once a month!

Simply because Jesus used bread and wine.Beef jerky is not kosher, and pig blood is unclean. Drinking any kind of blood would be, and IS in violation of His word not to drink(eat) blood (Leviticus 3:17) Communion is NOT representative of whats going on; it's representative strictly and totally of what Jesus Christ did for us through His death on Calvary. It is a symbolic remembrance of HIM, not of "whats going on." Unleavened bread, represents the purity of His body, the wine represents His shed blood.

There's a very good logical reason... communion mimics the last supper in which Jesus shared bread and wine with his apostles. They didn't eat beef jerky then and pig blood... ew.

Umm, no it wouldn't. It would be overliteral and gross. Communion is a symbolic, ritual act of uniting with the divine via an allegorical meal of bread and wine, both of which have a long tradtion of representing the Godhead which extends back even before Christianity.

i get what you're trying to say but if you'd like a technical way to look at it:
why not use the sheep meat and blood?
by jewish law, pig would have been unclean and the animal used for the passover meal was commonly the sheep.
and it wasn't until jesus died that the curtain between the holy and most holy sections of the temple was ripped in two, signifying that christ is the fullfillment of the mosiac law.
but to get even more technical, the jewish people don't drink blood as it is also viewed as unclean.
so really, why didn't they just eat their lamb and drink their wine and go ahead say, we're commemorating your time here on earth, oh lord?

Then Jesus took the bread, broke it and said, "Eat this, each of you in REMEMBERANCE of me".
He took the wine, poured it and said, "Drink this, each of you in REMEMBERANCE OF ME".
We take communion not based on what's going on right now but as the blood and body of Christ. God has never changed........We as a society have. Don't punish God for this.
