Relaxation techniques and medications never really helped me. The only thing that helps is to use a lot of self talk when I feel the anxiety kick in. That means trying not to focus on fearful thoughts, or 'what if' thoughts. Try to stay in control of your thinking and remind yourself that things will turn out okay, that worrying and being fearful will not help solve things. Take one day at a time, try to not project worries about the future. Also, being proactive about your problems helps. Instead of being anxious about them - try to think constructively about how to handle the problems and positive ways to deal with it - rather than letting worrying take over and paralyze you.
