Others are suitable; you're misquoting Jesus. He says in John 14:15 "in case you like me, you will obey what I command." the ten commandments have been regulations given to Moses for the Jewish human beings. Jesus lived His existence in accordance to Jewish custom yet He additionally offered coaching and commandments that have been His very own, certainly one of which replaced into "i'm the way and the fact and the existence. no one incorporates the father different than via me." (John 14:6). So what you're difficult is the course to salvation and a thank you to stay ones existence as a believer. One is calling in the direction of the destiny and the different is dwelling interior the present. Christians have confidence that good deeds don't get you into heaven and that good deeds with out salvation is incomprehensible. So why be good? because of the fact it pleases God and obedience could be an instantaneous effect of understanding you're stored.

Jesus said "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God."
James 2:19 says even the devils believe.
So no, following the 10 commandments and believing in God are not enough to get you into heaven.

If our salvation depended on our own good works and whether or not we had been good enough, then we never could be sure if we were going to heaven. After all, how could you know whether or not you had been good enough? You couldn't.
But listen: You and I will never be good enough! The reason is because God's standard is nothing less than perfection—and you and I will never be perfect. You see, many people think God must have a set of scales or balances in His hand, and He puts our good deeds on one side of the balance and our bad deeds on the other. If our good deeds outweigh our bad deeds, they think, then He will let us into heaven.
But this isn't true. God is pure and holy, and even one sin would be enough to keep you out of heaven—just one. And that is why we need Christ. He came for one reason: to become the perfect and final sacrifice for our sins. When He died on the cross, all our sins were placed on Him. He took upon Himself the sin and punishment we deserve, and He died in our place.
Can we know we are saved? Yes—when we trust Christ alone for our salvation. Ask Christ to come into your life today, and trust Him—and not yourself—for your salvation. Then believe God's promise to you, for it is true: "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved" (Acts 16:31).

First, not all religions say there way is the only way.
I'm really not worried about the afterlife. After you die, there is eitehr (1) nothingness, or (2) reward and punishment.
If I live a pretty good life, then I won't be punished, because God is just. If I don't try very hard to be good, then maybe God will not be happy with me, and I'll deserve not to be rewarded.
Again, I'm more concerned with THIS world than the NEXT world.
P.S. Hitler wasn't a Christian. Duh.

According to Jesus, himself no. A young man once ask Jesus what would he do to inherit everlasting life. The young man said that he was already following the 10 commandments. But, Jesus said it was not enough. The young man has to follow him. ( Mark 10:17-24)
Oh by the way, MAJORITY of Jesus' true followers will not inherit the heaven. Here are Jesus' teaching about that.
The meek shall inherit the earth--not heaven. Mat 5:5.
"let your kingdom COME", he taught us how to pray. He did not teach us to pray: let your kingdom Go Up! ( Mat 6:10)

Believe in Jesus. He'll help you write them in your heart and in your mind.
Many churches say to follow the 10 commandments and then try to erase or change that 4th one....(Daniel 7:25)

Yes I do. I feel that the Ten Commandments are the only absolute thing in the bible. They are the spoken word that can not be changed in any way of thinking on them. They are very clear in meaning. And they are straight to the point. All one needs to figure out the Ten Comandment is good comon sence. Then the rest is history.

No one has ever been justified by keeping the Law, not even Moses. We are justified by faith and not by works to keep us from boasting that we earned our place in Heaven.
Jesus said "I am the way and the truth and the life. NO ONE comes to the Father except by Me."
The Law only shows you that you can't possibly measure up against God's standard of righteousness; it shows us all what sinners we are. If you accept Jesus' death as the atonement for your sins, then you are saved and will go to Heaven. Without Him, you're just another sinner. So faith in Jesus is essential.

Not everyone believes in the commandments. Hitler was a Christian who believed it was acceptable to murder around 9,000,000 people, 6,000,000 of them Jews. Saddam felt it perfectly reasonable to slaughter anyone who he perceived to have aided the U.N. members after the Gulf War. IRA members thought it was fine to blow up women and children during the 80's and 90's. Christians think it's fine to worship a false idol (God is on our paper currency, a slap in the face of any true Christian). Over fifty percent of men AND women admit to cheating on their spouses.
But yes, you should try to live a good life.
I am an atheist, and I try to do no wrong to others.
