Jehovah's Witnesses are absolutely correct in saying the word 'Trinity' does not appear in the Bible. Unfortunately, they are absolutely wrong in claiming that Jesus is not divine, that he was merely an angelic creation of Jehovah. Because they do not understand who Jesus was (pre human form) and who he is now (risen Lord and Saviour) it is impossible for them to even contemplate the triune nature of the Godhead. That's why they distorted John 1: 1.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that had been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it."

Jews used 'Word' as a way of referring to God. "With God" - the Word was distinct from God. "Was God" - Jesus was God in the fullest sense.

Please note, the New World Translation has changed this from the original (Wescott and Hort's translation from which they copied the NWT). Wescott and Hort have condemned this.

Then, in John 1: 18 we read "No-one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known."

John 14:6 - "Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."

John 14:16 - "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counsellor to be with you forever - the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you."

John 14:26 - "But the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."

Matthew 28: 19-20 says "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Jesus, who came to earth, to be 'God with us', Immanuel.

In Romans 9:5, speaking of Christ, "and from them [the Patriarch] is traced the human ancestry of Christ, who is God over all, for ever praised! Amen."

In the beginning, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit were all involved in the creation. Genesis 1:2 says "the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters" and, famously, in verse 26, God says "and let US make man in OUR image, in OUR likeness."

Finally, check out the prophesy about Jesus in Isaiah 9: 6-15 where he is described as "Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace". When Jesus came to earth, he was God incarnate, God with us, not merely a man, and Jesus' purpose was to call people to God. After he was resurrected he sent the Counsellor or Comforter, known as the Holy Spirit, who is God with us now, and whose purpose, like Jesus purpose, is to bring people to God.

It is not possible for Jehovah's Witnesses to accept the idea of God's triune nature because they do not understand who Jesus is and they do not understand who the Holy Spirit is.

I'm going to address one scripture, That's Matt 3: 16,17; (16) (1) who is being baptized, it's Jesus, no argument. (2) Next; Gods Holy Spirit, descending as a dove, if Gods Holy Spirit is a person, is this person a shape shifter? And if the Holy Spirit is one of the three that are one, as stated in the Trinity, here we see they are different, Jesus & the dove, BUT (3) Now the third part of the trinity speaks & says; this is M Y S O N , the beloved, whom I have approved. Why would Jesus use ventriloquism, magic(the dove), & at the same time be a fleshly human? To deceive all that were there into thinking he is three different entities when in fact he's one. Why would he be so deceiving? We are told that God spoke from heaven at the baptism of Jesus Christ, were we told a lie? For all that have not had their eyes blinded by Satan(2 Co 4:4) the scriptures are understandable. Ephesians 4: 5 says; 1 God, the true God Jehovah(Psalms 83:18 Kings James Version, & many other translations) 1 Lord, we all know who this is, it's Jesus Christ our Lord & savior. 1 Faith, this would be the faith that procliams Gods Kingdom world wide from door to door(Matt 24:14 & Acts 15:14). As brought out in the Bible, I planted, Apollos waters, but God makes things grow. So if we Go therefore & make disciples of people of all nations, baptizing in the name of the Father(Jehovah), and of the Son(Jesus Christ, and of the Holy Spirt(Gods power) as written at Matt 28:19, we have done our part & what Jesus has asked us to do as stated at Matt6:9; sanctify(make Holy) Gods name "Jehovah"!

Jesus said, Whom do men say that I am?

And his disciples answered and said, Some say you are John the Baptist returned from the dead; others say Elias, or other of the old prophets.

And Jesus answered and said, But whom do you say that I am?

Peter answered and said, "Thou art the Logos, existing in the Father as His rationality and then, by an act of His will, being generated, in consideration of the various functions by which God is related to his creation, but only on the fact that Scripture speaks of a Father, and a Son, and a Holy Spirit, each member of the Trinity being coequal with every other member, and each acting inseparably with and interpenetrating every other member, with only an economic subordination within God, but causing no division which would make the substance no longer simple."

And Jesus answering, said, "WHAT...?"

The trinity is based on the Catholic Athanasian Creed, not the Bible. In part, it says: "And the Catholic Faith is this, that we worship one God in Trinity and Trinity in Unity. So there is One Father, not Three Fathers; one Son, not Three Sons; One Holy Ghost, not Three Holy Ghosts. And in this Trinity none is afore or after Other, None is greater or less than Another, but the whole Three Persons are Co-eternal together, and Co-equal."

As the Athanasian Creed's definition of the trinity goes, there is more to the trinity than saying that the Father, Son, and holy spirit are God (which the Bible does NOT say). They must ALSO be co-equal, co-eternal, and almighty. Does the Bible say that? No!

Nowhere in Scripture does it say the Father, Son, and the holy spirit are co-equal and almighty. If you think I'm not telling the truth, where in the Bible does it say outright that the holy spirit is equal to the Father or Son in ANYTHING? It doesn't.

Many Bibles (not just the NWT) will tell you that, at Ps. 83:18, Jehovah is the Most High. Is Jesus ALSO the Most High? No. At Luke 1:32, he was called SON of the Most High.

If Jesus was also God, as the trinity says, that would cotradict Jesus' own words at John 17:3 that his Father is the ONLY true God. Since Jehovah is the only true God, how could Jesus ALSO be the only true God?

If Jesus were equal to the Father, why did he say his Father was greater than he was? John 14:28.

If Jesus were equal to the Father, why didn't he know the "day and hour"? Trinitarians will reason that Jesus did not know because he had the limitations of a human. If that were true, why didn't the holy spirit know the day and hour. It was NEVER human.

If Jesus were equal to the other members of the trinity, why does Heb. 2:7, 9 say Jesus was made "a little lower than angels"? Can God be lower than angels?

If Jesus is equal to the Father, who is the God and Father of Jesus? Col. 1:3. Is Jesus his own God and Father?

If Jesus is almighty, why did his Father give him "all authority in heaven and on earth"? Wouldn't he already have it if he were almighty?

NOWHERE in ANY Bible does it say the Father, Son, and the holy spirit are co-equal, co-eternal, and almighty. If you can't accept that, try and find ONE verse where it says outright that the holy spirit is equal to either the Father or Son. You will NOT find it. Mabe someone can tell Primoa1970 that since he has such a fixation on the NWT.

The trinity doctrine is a lie. The clergymen who came up with such a falsehood, obviously never read the Bible all the way through.

Humans are imperfect, and incapable of answering this question on their own. Thus, our Heavenly Father provided clear and straightforward answers to avoid confusion .

Jesus IS God, and those who doubt this truth, can NOT be filled with the Holy Spirit, for they are trusting their own intellect and interpretation!! Our Heavenly Father is Divine!

Despite the stance many have taken, this is not an issue which requires emotionally fueled debates. That is of the flesh(ego)! Speak the Truth, and let it stand on it's own.

One either believes the Word or they do not!!

Isaiah 43:10 states - You are my witnesses," declares the LORD, "and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am HE. Before me NO GOD was formed, nor will there be one after me.

John 10:30 - I and the Father are ONE.

John 1:1 - In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word WAS God.

Blessings to all, Miji

I asked my husband, a former Jehovah's Witness, how he came to understand the trinity since he didn't believe it initially...he explained that it was as if an outside source had told him in his mind(the Holy Spirit!) that he had to stop thinking of the Father and the Son in the human context of a father and a son. That a human father could never also be his son... but with GOD, He can be anything, anyone, anytime, anywhere, and nothing, not ONE thing, is impossible for God to do or be simultaneously.

It is definitely true that the Holy Spirit continues to guide us and show us the real truth. I pray that JWs will let Him help them as well.....

I am not a member of Jehovah Witnesses but a plain Christian and I do not believe in trinity as the catholics believe it to be true. and I do not believe it because it is not written in the bible.

There is no such trinity in the bible. Trinity means three group of three, being three - the condition of existing as three persons or things.

While I believe that there is God,the Father,God, the Son and the Holy Spirit of God,they are the same and of the same God.

The belief in the trinity is the Roman Catholic Church.

How can that be.. Jesus said that heaven and Earth would pass away but His word would not. And in His word he is quote as saying that He is the I AM who is before Abraham. Then that is what He is GOD..

The Father is God he is all the God that there is. The Son (Jesus) is God He is all
the God there is. The Holy Spirit is God and again all the God that there is. Trinity.. Jim

I sure can.

Regarding the trinity, the teaching developed way after both Jesus and his discipled had died. If it were meant for us to believe in a trinity, don't you think Jesus would have told his disciples to preach that instead of preaching that Jehovah was alone the only true God?
Jesus himself stated he was here to do the will of his father, not the will of his own. If he was the father, he would not have stated that in that way.

The Encyclopedia of Religion admits: "Theologians today are in agreement that the Hebrew Bible does not contain a doctrine of the Trinity." And the New Catholic Encyclopedia also says: "The doctrine of the Holy Trinity is not taught in the O[ld] T[estament]."

Paul also wrote: "The time is sure to come when, far from being content with sound teaching, people will be avid for the latest novelty and collect themselves a whole series of teachers according to their own tastes; and then, instead of listening to the truth, they will turn to myths."—2 Timothy 4:3, 4, JB.

Don't single out JW's other denominations can offer you that proof. Here are some.

The admissions of Jesus himself that he is NOT God Almighty. What could be a more stronger proof against the trinity than these admissions of Jesus himself??

John 20:17. He is a mere worshipper of God.
Matthew 20:20-23; 24:36. His power and knowledge is limited

John 5:30. he can not do anything out of his own will.

Many reference materials--like world book, and Encyclopedia Britannica--will tell you that the doctrine of the trinity did not develop until 400 years after Jesus' death. Augustine adopted this Pagan teaching to convert pagans. He borrowed this concept from a Greek and pagan philosopher, Plato.
