I've had pain in the left side of my neck for the past 7 or 8 months but it has gotten worse lately. I have noticeable rock hard knots along the left side of my spine on neck to shoulder blade. The pain often radiates down my left arm and back. I've never had problems like this before and I really don't know where to start. Should I go to a chiropractor, masseuse? Is there any at home remedies I could try? Special pillow? Heat? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely try massage therapy first. It will take several sessions to break down the rocks you are feeling. every evening use a moist heating pad for twenty minutes. Take a break for five minutes then apply an analgesic balm, such as Bengay, to the affected areas.

If you do not feel better within a month I recommend you try a chiropractor. I've enclosed a link where you can find a chiropractor in your area in the USA. Chiropractors also have many different pillows they can recommend for your neck problem.

If you have any further questions please let me know,

First I think you should go to an orthopaedist to find out what is wrong before you decide to do any therapy. Sounds like a bulged disc touching and inflaming the nerve to your arm. it won't get better on it's own. a chiropractor could really damage you. a good one would xray first. i just had neck surgery for 3 bulged (herniated) discs at c4 thru c7 (cervical vertebrae 4-7). I'm fine. it really helped with the pain. scar not too pretty though. they fused 3 vertebrae together with a graft and a plate. i can move my head fine. i am going to pt next week. it's been a month. i went back to work after 2 weeks. but first find out what you're working with. Good luck

I have had neck pain for more than two years and many medecines according to the doctors prescriptions I took but they did not make me feel better for a long time. After taking pills, I get rid for some hours than the pain came back. Then 2 weeks ago, a friend of mine suggested me to put a bio ceramic necklace, a product which is made from various kinds of ceramic mixed with mineral oxides likes silica oxide ( SiO2), aluminium oxide ( A1202). The mixture of these materials will emit FIR ( far infrared rays). I put it on my neck just for less than 30 minutes and I started to feel better and so I put it on untill now and I do not get any pain anymore. Thanks God !

mental stress is a major cause of neck pain.specially anger, irritation, frustration, resentment etc. learn to relax, strech your muscles ,if you want relief without drugs try acupuncture.
