I've had one I think for 5 days now. It's an external one and is starting to cause lots of discomfort. I've been using petroleum jelly to help but it's not fixing anything? How long before I should start worrying? Is it a threat to my health? Should I just goto pharmacy and get some cream? Please help.

You should be using preparation H suppositories Twice daily to take down the inflammation. It's the most effective treatment without seeing a doctor. A daily sitz bath in hot water with 1c. dissolved Epsom salts will take down the inflammation. Try this for a few days if you don't feel any better see your medical doctor.

Go see the doctor now before the darn thing starts bleeding. They have you kneel on a table that tilts your bottom in the air so you feel really exposed. Since it is external they will most likely put a "rubber band" around it. This feel strange for a while but you get used to it. In about three days it falls off and you pass it. NO BIG THING!
