I have recently given up drinking caffinated coffee and i have subsequently bought de-caffinated coffee. Does any one know if there are benefits to this? Or if caffine is harmless?
I would like to hear your views please

There's a lot of cr*p talked about caffeine. It's, by an large, harmless in normal quantities - eg 3 or 4 standard cups of coffee a day on average

If you have a heart condition or related illness, your doctor may advise you to avoid drinks/food containing caffeine. This is because, of course, caffeine is a stimulant which increses your heart rate amongst other effects.

Alternatively, if you find that caffeine has an especially high stimulant effect on you and you are prevented from sleeping at night by too much of it, then try avoiding caffeine after, say, 4 or 5 in the afternoon.

I did hear years ago that the decaffeinating process itself uses chemicals which are more harmful than the caffeine. I don't know what proof there is of this or whether the process is different these days.

If this worries you or you want to continue avoiding caffeine anyway and you still want a hot drink, try drinking fruit teas which are naturally caffeine free. There are dozens of types available, so you're bound to find one you like.

Actually, there are some proven mental benefits to drinking caffeinated beverages - #1 is heightened mental ability. That said, as soon as it wears off you're back down and lower than a normal state, so you're right back at the coffee machine. Vicious cycle.

I personally don't feel that great drinking coffee. It's too bold, too much. I can't tell you exactly what it is or whether I'm just being weird, but I know how I feel when I'm drinking/eating something and coffee doesn't feel great.

Try green tea! You get the benefits of caffeine (in a far lower dosage), it's great for your metabolism and it's healthy! I drink it every day and I feel great.

There has been a lot of controversy and conflicting reports about the effects of caffeine. The latest is that 1 or 2 cups of coffee per day(caffeinated) is actually beneficial is some ways. I have found the benefit of drinking decaf is that I don't get the shakes or a nervous stomach when I drink a lot of it and I love coffee. If you have recently switched to decaf you may experience some withdrawal symptoms such as headaches for a few days until your body adjusts.

There are definitely benefits to you stopping drinking caffeine, for example caffeine is suppose to raise your blood pressure as well as give you headaches when you get hooked to it. It's a stimulant as well so now you should be having a restful sleep without that nasty stuff in your blood.

what i have heard, ceffene is a diorhetic (spelling is wrong i think) and is not bad for you in very small ammounts and a recent study has shown that if you are older and drink coffee you live longer but that only counts in older people. i think its a case of moderation. and i dont think giving up alcohol is a bad idea at all! nice one
