I have heard before that many people view God as they do their dad. And, also that a person's relationship w/ God tends to be like the one they have with their dad. For example if your dad was easy to talk to and to go to w/ problems God would be the same for you. . . .or if your dad was simply the punisher, the one you did not want to have to talk to that you would view God the same way. Does anyone feel this way?

I am not saying compare your dad to God. I know the difference, lol. I am talking about a relationship. My dad is very loving, I can go to him for anything and he loves me no matter what. . . my relationship with God is the same. I have a friend whose dad is very cold and judgmental and he has more of a fear for God than a love.

God Is God. As a Christian I cannot compare my dad to God, however my father has been a good dad living a good Christian life setting the example before me. I am a mother, I need to live like the Lord wants me too in front of my son. Jesus walked his talk. I want to be like that for my son. What I say I want to do. Teaching him right from wrong.
For those who do not have a loving Christian father it would be hard to understand having a relationship with God.

mom and dad perspective i'd could say no no no! it truly is a nasty blend and that i does no longer in any appreciate enable my teenage daughter or son bypass via way of will that. that's actual a be certain's worst nightmare. 17 365 days previous daughter tenting out at the same time with her bf and three diverse boys, sex, eating, making use of, faraway from mom and dad. that's only a huge no i'm sorry. no matter when you're declaring you're literally no longer that type of female yet with all that pressure, you may be bowled over.

That may be true in some cases, but not in mine. My father died over fifteen years ago, but my God is alive and well. I barely have any memories of my dad...I didn't know him very well.
I may not know all of God (and WON'T for a VERY long time), but I do have a closer relationship with God than I ever did with my dad.

God is first and dad is second. Your dad is not God. There is a lot of difference between your heavenly Father and your earthly father.

Interesting thought- I don't know my dad I don't know god. Interesting.... They also say that I'll date people who remind me of my dad but my boyfriend's not non-existent- who knows?

well, that would be why it's so hard for me to talk to this male god that christianity has painted up. :D
my biological father abandoned me and my stepfather was abusive.
thanks for the info though. i'd never thought of it quite like that.
:D
