...when the Bible says He rose again on the third day?
If that is really the case, then Christians should celebrate His ressurection on Monday.

I am also a Christian, a Catholic in fact, but I'm confused...

Good question.

I have had christian religious in my family since christianity was first formed and even they don't answer this properly.

Expect lots of squirming, or even abuse.

Why also, does the Vatican refuse to acknowledge Friday 14 Nisan 36 CE as the real Good Friday, the year Pilate was recalled to Rome for crucifying a Roman Citizen and causing all the fuss?

Why does the Vatican refuse to accept Friday 14 Nisan 6 CE, the year of the official census as his true birthday instead of December 25, the celebration of Saturnia, the Roman pagan god based on Dagon, the Syrian blood god?

None of these things makes sense for a religion that is suppose to accurately worship its apparent founder, unless there is something "else" going on.

Hello, Melody 1:

Moslems celebrate Friday, but not because Jesus died as the Savior--the Koran says to keep the Sabbath--OOPS, someone goofed.

Jesus was crucified on Passover Friday, and Pentecost sunday was 7 weeks later.

On Sunday Jesus walked to Emmaus (Luke 24:13) and those He walked with said "this is the third day since these things happened."

Concerning what day is sacred, in the beginning God sanctified the Sabbath. Jesus and the disciples kept it. Acts records "first-day" (sunday one time). Paul, in 32 yrs of history uses 'first day" once. Both these examples show the saints resting and guarding the sabbath, then performing work after Saturday.

God never commanded anyone to keep the 'resurrectin-day", and the Saints will keep Saturday through eternity (Isalah 66:23).

Who changed the Sabbath to Sunday? That is revealed in a secret Bible code at www.revelado.org/revealed.htm

Blessings in Jesus

According to the Bible, Jesus died on the day before the Sabbath (Saturday). Because the Sabbath starts on sundown Friday night, his body was hurriedly put in the tomb without any funeral rites. Saturday was the Sabbath so no one would/could visit the tomb. The following day (which actually was the beginning of the work week, not Sunday to them), Mary returned to the tomb to clean/wash the body. This is when she discovered it missing. Technically whether he rose on Saturday or Sunday is probably a moot point, but early Catholics decided to use the day they found the body gone - Sunday.

The Jews regarded part of a day as a whole day. Friday is considered one day, Saturday, day 2, Sunday AM, day 3. The point of the matter is not when He died and rose again, but that He died and rose again. We worship a Person, not a day or even an event, but what the Person, Jesus Christ Lord and Savior did for all who trust in Him.

He died at 3 o'clock in the afternoon of Friday and rose in the morning of Sunday. That makes it 2 1/2 days he was in the tomb. The Jewish day was divided in 4 watches beginning at 6 pm.

Peace and every blessing!

Answering this question in this format would be difficult at best.
Check out the web-site below and click on the Feasts of God.
You will find an explanation there and more is added every two weeks or so.

Under the Jewish calendar, a day goes from sunset to sunset.

Jesus died and was buried before sunset on Friday - day 1
He was in the grave on Saturday - day 2
He rose before sunrise on Sunday - day 3

Simple math.

He died on Friday(day 1), still dead on Saturday(day2), rose again on Sunday(day 3). Hence the 3rd day.
