I need to give my dad a letter, with things I've been meaning to tell him for years now. What form should I do it in? Should I hand write it on lined notebook paper? Should I hand write it on some stationary paper? Should I type it? What do you all think?

This is a very good question. I think handwritten letters are best for personal communications like this one. When you handwrite a letter, it adds emotion and that personal touch. You should write it on quality stationery-- not lined notebook paper. It sounds like you have spent a lot of time thinking about this, and what better way to show how thoughtful you are than to use good paper? Perhaps this is a letter your dad will want to keep, or read over again.

I would hand write in on very nice stationary paper. Just make sure it's readable - so write clearly. I think that writing your dad is a great idea! Maybe I should do that too.

DEFINITELY handwrite it... much more personal. What you choose to write it on is up to you and what you feel most comfortable with. I would say maybe notebook paper if it's going to be pretty long, and stationary if it's just going to be like one page. Good luck though, whatever you choose!

Do a first draft on paper, computer or whatever is the easiest way for you to get your thoughts down and organize what you want to say.

For the final product, if it has to be a letter, it would mean more if it was in your best handwriting.

To be honest, it would mean much, much more if you told your father everything you wanted to say... in person... rather than writing it.

In hand on any paper you wish. With such occasion, it being a very personal letter, the format or paper you use doesn't matter as much as the contents.

Typing would be more impersonal. Handwriting (clearly) would be nice. Don't fret over the paper - it doesn't matter. The content is what counts. And if you have to type, that's better than no letter at all.

And good for you for doing it.

Use alot of adjectives, for a start. Tell them how much you miss them and where ever they live..Then explain everything! How it looks in the morning...How it sounds in the night... The people, the shops...So on. Tell them how it's going and how you've made friends and you have a dog or whatever. Then at the end say how you have to make plans to fly down to them for christmas. then Ps. Stay safe and don't worry about me. Love Your son

hand writing is more personal than typing. as for what kind of paper you use, that does not matter at all. all that really matters is the content, not its delivery method.

good luck with it.

To me, it depends on the message.

If it's emotional - handwritten. Let how much it means to you show in how you present it. Is what you have to say worthy of special treatment? If so, treat it as special and do it up right!

What you say will mean as much to him regardless of the paper or style you choose, but making it as personal and nice as you can shows how much it means to you.

Try writing on lined paper. He won't care what type of paper you use, it'll be the words on the paper that will grab his attention.
