There isn't one gospel but four. You have to respect that, because they are NOT interchangeable. Luke. It's about being a virtuous king for ones people. John. It's about the cultural foundation of the community of believers. Matthew. It's a compendium for the missionary. Marc. It's an attempt to relate to Joe Average. The message of Luke is that a king's value depends on the prosperity and orderliness of his people. The message of John is that being a Christian means living through the Holy Ghost, which is Christ's achievement for mankind. The message of Matthew is that there's really no reason for a Jew not to become a Christian. The message of Marc is that Christianity is overall pretty reasonable.

Knowing, loving and serving God is at the very heart of the Gospels. That is the full value of any message that comes from Jesus, "The Christ."

So Faith in God: He is there for me and I try to live with the directions of the Holy Spirit and a belief that I can make better free will choices in line with the commandments.

Hope for my salvation: When I roam away from God's direction, ( Not to; anger, cheat, gossip, steal, become wanton, focus on my want for power) I hope he will guide me back and light the easy way.

Charity: When I love others, when I say; I love you too!, and when I help others less fortunate, I am loving God.

John 3:16-17
16)For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him might be saved.
17)For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.

John 14:6
6)Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The heart of the gospel message (and the entire Bible) is the vindication of God's name and his sovereignty (his absolute right to rule over us)by means of his kingdom government with Jesus Christ as it's king. This is what Jesus taught and what all of us are to be teaching to others as it is the only hope for mankind to be redeemed from sin and death which we all inherit from Adam.

That Jesus loves the people of the world so much he was willing to endure torture and death to bring us to a relationship with God.

I get hung up on a lot of other details of the bible. This stops me. Put everything else in there aside for a moment. Given the choice, who would I be willing to suffer like this for? My kids, maybe a couple other people in my life, but complete strangers?

The Kingdom of God.

Matthew 24:14
"And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come."

Paul quoted the heart of the gospel by reciting an oral tradition in 1 Corinthians 15:3ff. He said, "I make known to you the gospel which I preached to you..." Then he said, "that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day according to the scriptures."

The greatest commandment - You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart, soul, mind and strength.

And the second greates - You must love your neighbor as yourself.

"On these two commands the whole Law hangs, and the prophets"

It's this:

God visited this planet 2000 years ago to redeem us from sin by His death, burial & resurrection

He made atonement for us....because in and of ourselves....we cannot ever save ourselves or come into the presence of a holy God

Jesus bridged the gap between God & man....and we now have direct access to the Father & heaven
