Why does the Vatican deny Jesus was a full Roman Citizen?

To fulfil the Jewish prophecy, by Jewish law (the Tanakh/Old Testament), Jesus had to be of the bloodline of David, the true kings of Israel- from King Zedekiah via his only surviving child-Princess Tamar. Regardless of disinformation, my Jewish law, you have to be "born" by royal bloodline to be the messiah.

Under Roman Law 2,000 years ago, all Roman citizens were subject to the protection and process of Pontius Pilate, while all non-Roman citizens were under the Jewish civil and religious courts.

It makes total sense by law, if Jesus was a prince of Judah, to be brought before Pilate, by law. But the New Testament makes no sense and contradicts historic fact if it maintains the fiction that he was not Roman and subject to Jewish law. If this was the case, the Sadducee High Priests could have had him killed any day ot the week (no excuses stand up).

So why does the Vatican deny Jesus was a full Roman Citizen?

Pastor Billy says: Jesus was charged originally with a charge of the religious crime of blasphemy hence the Jewish court as it did not separate these from civil authority. The Roman civil authority had no authority in the case.

Why raise such a question on this day? Are you Jewish? Regardless you are being quite offensive posting this question on Good Friday.

Jesus Christ was not a Roman citizen to claim otherwise is not historically accurate

The Jewish religious authorities plotted Jesus death just as another poster has explained. In doing so they did not what to be perceived as his persecutor. Therefore they switched the charges against him to a charge of instigating civil unrest among the people so as to have the Roman law supercede their religious authority and thereby have him brought before Pilate once again for sentencing. Very evil men these and therefore Pilate made clear in his final sentencing "this blood is on your hands and the hands of your children"

On the cross was placed the sign INRI , ( Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum) the Jewish authorities did not like this as they knew prophesy was being fulfilled before their eyes and requested Pilate remove the sign he did not.

And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin. Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, "Write not, 'The King of the Jews;' but that he said, 'I am King of the Jews'." Pilate answered, "What I have written I have written."

You have answered you own question with this paragraph you wrote, "Under Roman Law 2,000 years ago, all Roman citizens were subject to the protection and process of Pontius Pilate, while all non-Roman citizens were under the Jewish civil and religious courts."

Jesus was not born in Rome of of Roman Lineage. None of the Kings in the old testament were Romans or born in Rome. There is nothing connecting Jesus to Rome. Jesus is from the tribe of Judah and on of Jesus' decendants were from Rome.

He was NOT a Roman citizen. Remember that in those days, citizenship was not simply a matter of being born under the legal jurisdiction of Rome. It was a privilege only granted to a relatively few number of people.

The reason he was brought before Pilate after the Sadducee priests were done with him was that they had no authority to put him to death, and the death penalty was what they really wanted in his case. Only Pilate had that authority. We are told he condemned him reluctantly, and washed his hands afterwords. Thanks, guy.

In fact, Jesus was crucified by the Romans because that was the only way he could fulfill the prophecies.

The Jewish priests would not like to look bad in the eyes of the people who believes in Jesus as the Messiah, so they plotted that Jesus be killed(John 17, 26-onwards) not in their hands but in the Romans.

They accuse Jesus of going against the Roman government, the Romans were unwittingly fulfilling prophecy. Thats why Jesus was crucified (Roman punishment) and not stoned (Jewish punishment).

As to his citizenship...let me look it up more...

The Jews were subject to the authority of the Roman empire. Pilate was simply the local governor of Israel. Regardless of any majestic titles assumed by Jewish Israeli citizens, they still were required to acknowlege Caeser as their king.

The Jews were not allowed to crucify ANYONE under Roman law. That was something only the Romans were "allowed" to do. The Jews were at the mercy of Roman authority when it came to punishing serious criminals.

The Jews were Israeli citizens under Roman law, not citizens of Rome. They were Roman SUBJECTS

Jesus was a Jew.I can tell you right now that the Romans were too fussed on the Jewish people. It might make sense if you read the Gospels, especially the chapters focusing on the trial and execution of Jesus.

The only churches that have a claim to be established by Christ are the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church. They were the same church until the Schism of 1054. All other churches were started by men.
