That is what is so great about the LORD, HE gave us "free will"!
HE didnt want "robots" mimicking what they do and be perfect, no, HE wanted some one to love HIM freely.
Most people dont have the want, nor the will to live a "Christian" life, because they are having too much "fun" living the secular progressive lifestyle. They dont want to account for thier sins, they simply want to ignore that they "are" sinning and have a great time, figuring that there is no price to pay for thier actions.
Others simply havent been "introduced" to the LORD and HE wants you and I to spread the Word about HIS love for us and what HE has done on the Cross.
Its all a matter of choice. Will you simply choose to spread the Word, or, do you want to be responsible for not obeying the "Great Commission" and not spread the Good Word across the land that the LORD loves everyone and has died for all who have sinned, if they would only believe and come to HIM.
I wish you well...
Jesse

It's just old traditional folklore, actually based on pagan religions. Just look it up?
Just accept the days off and the opportunity for a good dinner or three, some fine wines, the company of your family and friends and forget all about the supposed religious connections. They don't actually matter anymore.
As someone else said:
It is my position that eventually, society will be freed from the shackles of religion, finally driving the last nail in the coffin of the dark ages, and banishing ignorance and intolerance forever. This, however, will likely not happen in my lifetime.
Having said that, the tradition of the aforementioned holidays would still continue, even when religion was finally nailed as being a preposterous idea. People like having holidays. Don't you?

Easter is set by the first full moon after the vernal equinox. This is the one day in the year when day and night are roughly equal! It varies by more than a month over the years and so it simply cannot represent the date of anyone's death!!! It is in fact a combination of several pagan festivals most notably the spring festival. The name Easter comes from “Eastre” an Anglo-Saxon pagan goddess. Even the Chinese have the festival of Ching Ming where flowers and sweets are put on their ancestors graves!! The egg and the rabbit are symbols of springtime and rebirth! Fun to watch the Christians worshiping a pagan festival though - makes it just like Christmas when they do the same thing!!!

My husband says, "you will never find an atheist in a fox hole". I don't think there are many non-believers, I just think that the basis of religion has changed through the decades. Much of this can be attributed to capitalizism. Lots of money in these holidays and many forget the basis of religion in general which to me is to be a descent human being to yourself and to others. It has also become hard to 'believe' when there is so much corruption hiding behind religions.
These holidays are still great to bring out the best in people. Share, get to church, be with family and friends, be with your children and thank God for your gifts and this day you have on this Earth. I hope we all make it count!
Happy Easter!

Holidays are not reason to believe. What may be important to you, may not be important to the next guy.
Religion is just a very popular, and self-promoting, superstition. It uses emotional manipulation and childhood indoctrination to seat itself deeply in our psyche. That's the only reason it is given so much weight. It really doesn't otherwise deserve it.
BTW, Christians adopted the holidays from previous more secular holidays. The middle of winter and the start of spring are important to agrarian people, so they were celebrated. Note the theme of being green through winter and a symbol of life surviving in the Christmas holiday. Also, notice the various fertility symbols used in Easter. Those were actually the original foci of those holidays.
There's nothing, really, in the killing of a zealot that has anything to do with fertility. And even by the Bible's own words, Jesus was not born in middle of winter.

Jesus died on Nisan 14 of the Jewish calender. this year this equates with April 2nd.
Jesus asked us to remember it. Luke 22;19.
Jesus preached for 3 1/2 years. He was about 30 when baptised.
Go back 33 1/2 years from ANY April/May and the answer is about October. Jesus was born then...not December 25th.
And he never mentioned anything about remembering that.

people were given " facts " about imaginary wmd and it was wrong. just because some " facts " are about don't make it fact. easter and xmas are pagan holidays, God would not want us celebrating pagan holidays. Glory should be for God not the messenger. Jesus ( peace be upon him ) never die on a cross , God never have sons or daughters, and Bible has so many versions it has long ceased to be word of God.

i'm not christian, but i still believe in jesus. i believe he was a saint of a human being and i would pray to him anyday. he deserves to have the title god since he lived like a god. As a hindu i would be happy to celebrate Easter and xmas with christians. Life is too short, why make enemies agianst ppl from other religions. Lets all get together and show god we can live peacefully and celebrate all festivals together.

Easter is a pagan holiday and so is Christmas (now anyway). People dont believe what they dont want to believe. It has nothing to do with fact and evidence. Millions of people have lived for years eating meat, yet we still have vegans. Millions of people fly in planes, but we still have those who refuse. Millions of people have survived through the hardships of life, yet we still have suicide. Some people just choose to go a different path is all...
...the motives are all their own.

Uhh, well, that would be because a very large number of us believe that the belief of such stories as "facts" is about as valid as believing in the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, just made-up stories to manipulate people by terrorizing them with stories that, if they don't believe such-and-such, they will go to hell forever.
A lot of us have extreme difficulties believing this crap, since it is obviously just an attempt at mass mind control & manipulation. It's made up, just a friggin' fairy tale.
Man is the only animal that knows he is going to die someday, and the idea that, when you die, you are just plain dead and gone and pass into oblivion is just too much for some people to handle, particularly after the death of a loved one. People feel better if they can convince themselves that their dead loved one has passed into another existence with "everlasting life", rather than the obvious fact that they are dead and gone, forever & ever, amen.
