The chicken inside dries to the shell and the chicks can't escape to hatch. In an incubator the eggs get turned 5-8 times a day except on the day they are expected to hatch where the are then left unturned. Seen this done a few times, so hope this helps

We currently have an incubator full of falcon eggs. they are in a turning cradle and theoretically shouldn't need turning but we do. if not the cell and air sac growth is stunted and you will only get about a 50% hatch rate. We turn our eggs over and then back in the same direction, never spin them around because in later development the chick and umbillical cord could get tangled. we don't tunr them 50 times tho.

A hen will turn her eggs many times a day, but normally when using an incubator they are only turned two or three times a day.

WOW - ummm the yolk will stick!!!

It will sick to the side of the shell rather than in the middle where s/he can grow all around . Stuck to the side, doesn't grow right.
