This is a very exciting process and you may be tempted to rush out and buy a puppy from the first breeder you find. Take your time. This is a very important decision and your puppy will grow into a dog that will (hopefully) be with you for ten or even fifteen years. That's a long time, so make sure you're getting a healthy and sound puppy by finding an ethical breeder. I was on a waiting list for 9 months before we just got our Kuvasz puppy -- it was worth it.
The best place to start, regardless of the breed, is the breed club's website. In this case, that's the Great Dane Club of America. (Edit: Duh. See below. I just realized you're NOT in the States. Sorry about that.) Below is a link to the breeder map on the website. Click on your state, and that should get you started. Another route is to do a google search for "great dane kennel ".
Regardless, that's the first step. You need to call these people, interview them, ask them about their breeder program, and ask them about the puppy's parents. I've linked another article on this below. It is very important that you find an -ethical- breeder, and just because a breeder is listed on the club's website does not mean the club has endorsed or monitors the breeder.
Good luck. Great Danes are wonderful dogs.
Edit/P.S.: I just noticed that you said "Kent". Sorry for the stupid, American-centric perspective. I assume that means you're in England. (-; Check out this website: http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/51 ... It has a list of contacts and telephone numbers you can call for additional information, as well as a few links for Great Dane Clubs in the UK.

Ooh I live in Kent! What area are you from? I'm from Medway. I work in a veterinary surgery, and I know a really nice breeder of great danes, he has lovely ones. He also runs an animal taxi service, the number for that is 07765 349513 (I looked it up on the internet as I don't have his card on me at the moment - his business is called Fawnrush).
Good luck, he has the nicest puppies!

To find a reputable breeder you need to go through the breed clubs - listed at the bottom of the page here:
http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/51
Contact the breed club & they will be able to give you details of available litters.
A responsible breeder will have made sure that the sire & dam of the puppies have been hips scored and heart tested before breeding.
