People tend to fear what they don't understand. Others are insecure with their own faith, so they bash that of others. They can't believe that another person can be happy in a faith that they themselves don't believe in. It somehow justifies to their own minds the choice they made.

Even Jesus criticized other religions. I guess it's natural to do so. Mostly though, I think people like to disagree with others and religion is a big area they can disagree upon. Others just can't stand hypocrisy. I for one think many in the Muslim religion are hypocrites. Having been in Iraq, I've never seen so many religious people killing each other in the name of God. Absolutely Amazing!!!!!
For me, that is NOT a religion of love and acceptance, at least not from what I saw over there.

Critically examining beliefs (our own and those of others) is part of having a rational approach to who we are.
You can't "bash" a belief, only a person. Bashing is a physical act: criticism is an intellectual one.
Generally, on this site we know other people by their beliefs, and many people seem to build an identity around their beliefs.
This is an open site, where people can put ideas out there for discussion and examination. Don't take it too personally.

"why do people feel the need to bash religions that differ from their own"?
Well see, there you go - just one more reason (out of many) why religion shouldn't exist in the first place.

It's unfortunate but I think it has more to do with fear than anything else. I have practiced Christianity but decided to become a Buddhist. I've taken a lot of flack but that's ok. I wouldn't mind if you started your own religion. I understand your frustration.

Why not establish your own religion? It certainly couldn't be more idiotic than most of them around right now.

because of the fact some human beings think of their faith provides them specific entitlements. like the entitlement to tell human beings whom they'd love or marry, how they'd stay, how they could vote, etc. and those specific human beings have been responsible for numerous the wars in historical past. it could be super if shall all of us merely stay and enable stay, yet suitable now there's a Christo-fascist flow that has no longer something to do with the classes of Jesus attempting to regulate my government, and that offends me.

Its natural. Jesus himself condemned the wrong religion of his time. Just like Jesus (but not all here), they are concerned of the people so that they might not fall into the traps set by the wicked one.
Out of love, Jesus did those, and again, some although not all, do the same. They give a warning to what wrong religions can do to a person.
Its like when you know that a water source is poisoned, wouldnt you warn the people drinking from it that its poisoned?

It's not a matter of hate.
It's a matter of fighting against ignorance.
A very dangerous ignorance at that.
