I have had the same problem. I want to get close to God and suddenly I'm a target of bad luck. You said some of you will say satin and stuff but think about your question. That should be the answer from a christian. It's not a secret that people who are strong in their faith or are growing in their faith are a target. Since I'm trying to get closer to God his enemies are trying to pull me away. I just choose to keep trying. Maybe your a target because you have an important purpose and it will change a lot of lives. This may be one of the answers you expected but since your a christian you know it's also the most likely reason. It sucks to be a target and it will bring hard times. Good luck with everything and I hope you find a way to work everything out. Hope I helped :)

What you are experiencing is what happens when someone gets on the fast track to God. You are indeed lucky to have even noticed the connection. I am sorry to tell you something that may shake the foundation of your Christian beliefs, but it all has to do with Karma. The higher one attempts to go spiritually, the faster he or she has to burn off his outstanding karmic debts (for we can approach God only in a pure state). This karmic work-off may show up as a string of "bad luck" as in your case.
Now this is not to say that you must simply attribute every "bad luck" to karma; discrimination is still a watch word. Make sure you are putting in your best in every situation, and each time something goes wrong, try to understand the lessons therein.
I do not need to advise to go back to the fast track, as you should decide that by yourself. But I can assure that if you persist, you will soon get respite, especially if you under the right tutelage.
I wish you all the best.

Take your pick.
Either, the hard times you fall upon are the work of the Devil.
Or
The hard times you fall upon are God testing your faith to prove to you that you are worthy of Him.
So much for the "Footprints" poem - one set of footprints in the sand because God carried you through the hard times.
I'd be looking in the mirror for the God sized thumb print on your forehead...
Simple logic, and reasoning, even common sense (dare I say) should lead you to the conclusion that if you don't do the 'thing' (praying / banging your head against the wall), then you don't get the unpleasant outcome (bad luck / headache).
I'm not advising you to do anything. I'm expressing an opinion.
What you do is your choice.

I have experienced this, as we all have. When we "become" spiritual (we already are spiritual), we churn the waters, bring up the muddy junk that has been lying there, such as old beliefs that no longer work for us, that many times we may not be aware of...old memories...When you stop praying, and your life "...goes along just fine," you are going back to complacency, giving in to the ego part of you, the part that is afraid. You now have convinced yourself that prayer-life is bad, and non-prayer-life is good. This is a belief about reality, not reality itself. "It is done as you believe."
It isn't spirituality that is messing your life up, it is the normal stirring up of your subconscious mind, as you seek. The "bad things" that come up, come up because they need to be healed. And they can be healed. There is part of you who knows where you are headed, and this part wants to help you get there, but you keep getting in the way.
There is no Satan, just your own fear. When you learn to find what you seek, take small steps, listen to the small voice within, you will begin to learn how your mind works, how belief forms your reality as you know it. The part of you who knows, will not give up on you, so why should you give up on yourself?

This is a truth that you have said .Why should the devil bother anyone who is not doing what God wants. The devil bothers people that always love God Praise God and obey the Holy Spirit but God is there always to have a way out for you one way or another. It is like this/Can a teammate who is sitting on the bench get in an altercation with the other team very doubtful but he also cant score any goals for his team So get off the bench and dont be afraid of that old devil and go to Jesus. You are important for God otherwise the devil would not bother you when you start getting close to Jesus and doing His will .You are called.God bless you I hope this has helped you because it helped me.

The Bible is real clear about this. Unfortunately most fellowships are not. There is not many people in the Bible who did not suffer. We are not of this world brother. The world hates us just like they hate Jesus.
Jam 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
Jam 1:3 Knowing [this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
Jam 1:4 But let patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Rom 5:3 And not only [so], but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
Rom 5:4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
Rom 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

I think I got a little bad luck also, but as long as I have my health and I'm happy, then I'm not going to complain, because I know others may have it worse. And as far as prayer, I do not pray. Sure I converse with God everyday but it's not like I'm asking for anything. I just ask him to give me wisdom to make the right decisions and a hope everyone else is happy to. SOunds stupid I know.

Maybe you are trying too hard, and you find your flow when you relax more about it. Maybe you need to look around some, and re-define "spiritual" for yourself... Carychrysler has offered some interesting thoughts for consideration though, and that might be something to think about as well, maybe you need to just slow down a little bit, and try to work out the spiritual sludge at a slower pace, sometimes things have to get worse before they can get better, it's ok to find your own pace about it, or take a break or whatever if you need to... (well, or I think so anyway, I try to be gentle with myself that way..) Think about what you are praying for, and how you pray though, too, if I pray for strength, God(ess) sends me trouble to make me stronger, so I pray for things like peace and serenity instead! I also find that one way to increase blessings in my life is to pay attention to every little one, the more I notice, acknowledge, and offer thanksgiving for blessings in my life, the more that appear....
Katie: Wow! I think that is more about a lack of a spiritual life in those around you, than a lack in your own relationship to "God" Unfortunately it was convenient to them to make you suffer for it...
.....egads, no one should have to live through things like that......
Pangel: nice thoughts on the ways that pain builds character... That which does not kill us, makes us stronger....

I am not Christian , but i feel everyone goes through this
these are a few quotes that may help though
the first one is my favourite
I walked a mile with Pleasure, she chattered all the way; but left me none the wiser, for all she had to say. I walked a mile with Sorrow, and never a word said she; but, oh, the things I learned from her when Sorrow walked with me!
- Robert Browning Hamilton, Along the Road
Sometimes to realize you were well, someone must come along and hurt you.
- Perry Farrell
We cannot learn without pain.
- Aristotle
Our glory is not in never falling, but rising every time we fall.
- Confucius
( I hope you start to have more ups than downs though xx )

Hi.I think i can understand the way u are looking at this .May i offer a suggestion ?and no i do not think it's the devil causing u the problems but possibly God and i dont mean this in a bad way.! I am learning thru my own soul searching and got to admitt, a lot of help from spiritual teacher's from cd's and cassettes[oh, the modernized, gadgeted world in which we live, lol].that when we really ask God to really want to know God and [his] purpose and seek GOD'S direction for our life's and I mean God's ,NOT our direction for our life's that it may look like bad thing's start happening in our life's .All the while not seeing that it is God's direction that we truely asked for and it may not be at all what WE expect or think WE want for our life's because we cannot yet see God's divine plan for our life yet because it may cause some pain for us at 1st.For example say you loose your job a week [or what ever time frame ,because i don't think God see's time the way we do ,so time is probably erevelent -a minute, a week 10 / 20 yrs, etc].anyway's lt happen's and you DID ask God for {HIS}guidance in your life and now you have no job and no income.Could it be that this lost had to happen to fulfill his guidance[your prayer] to guide you to The job that you were /are meant to be working in at this time in your life? And that going thru the hardship between those two job's was possibly God's way to teach you to RELY on {him} and not on self and so much on earthly principles but on spiritual endurance and strengthen faith ,not destroy it? Hope this can help.i never am sure that when i try to write out what i am trying to say is going to make sence to whom i am writing it[esp. since i have had about only 2 hrs. sleep in the last 24,long story].I guess i should try to have a little faith myself that God will let my written word's make sence to you and those who read it.Also maybe take some time to really ponder your thought 'that life goes find and wonderful 'when ever you just follow your own path.I think you might be experienceing when ever you let your mind go quiet, that persistant 'something'not quite right feeling in your soul. maybe a emptiness that just does't seem to fill ,' feeling' ..I hope i do'nt sound like a preachy'know it all',believe me i'm not .Spiritually i am still a baby ,definetly searching for sound spiritual guidance for my own soul's journey and destination.[I don't think i would be still up at 4:30 in the morning in a internet spiritual/religion chat group searching for some of life's answer's myself , if i felt at peace as to where i was at in my own life's journey w/ God as my director].Just hope i may have been of some help to you and maybesome other searching soul out there.
