Good Friday is a Christian religious observance honoring the Crucifixion of Christ. Some scholars think that it's a corruption of the name "God's Friday".

Good Friday is the day that marks when Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross for our salvation. Today the whole Church mourns the death of Jesus. Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence. Catholics are also supposed to meditate and pray between the hours of noon to three o'clock in the afternoon. These are the hours Jesus hung on the cross.
Good Friday is called good because on this day Jesus was crucified for our redemption of our sins. orld: "Holy Friday" for Latin nations, Slavs and Hungarians call it "Great Friday," in Germany it is "Friday of Mourning," and in Norway, it is "Long Friday." Some view the term "Good Friday" (used in English and Dutch) as a corruption of the term "God's Friday."
Good Friday is also the only day that there isn't a full Mass.

Peace and every blessing!

It means people made a mistake in figuring out when Jesus Christ died.

In the early centuries of Christianity, much of the people of the Roman Empire hated the Jews. Therefore, they did not bother to find out the whole truth of Jewish custom. They did not realize that the Sabbath that Jesus died just before was NOT a weekly Sabbath, but an annual Sabbath, and could fall on almost any day of the week.

When the Bible is read CAREFULLY, it can be seen that there was a regular working day between the annual Sabbath (called a "High Sabbath" in John) and the weekly Sabbath (Saturday).

Therefore, Jesus died on a Wednesday, not a Friday, according to the Bible.

Those who do not care for the truth will not change from their centuries old error of believing that Jesus died on a Friday.

Jesus wasn't crucified on a Friday. He was crucified on a Wednesday. The next day was a high Sabbath called The First Day of Unleavened Bread. The Bread of Life had been crucified and the sin of the world had been paid for. Halleluyah! Jesus' body was removed from the cross in preparation for the Sabbath and he was in the grave Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday night and by Sunday morning, our savior having arisen sometime after sundown on Saturday night, the stone had been rolled away. Bless the Lord oh my soul!

It's the day Christ died to forgive our sins. It may have seemed like a bad thing to people at the time. But Christs death had to take place to atone for our sins and make us sinless to attain Heaven. That's why it's Good Friday. It is the best thing that ever happened to/for us. Jesus died on a Friday (Good Friday) BUT, death could not hold Him, He overcame death, defeated it and Satan.....We call it Easter. Easter Sunday took place three days after Good Friday. Easter shows Jesus power. His power over sin, death, and damnation. Easter is the victory that began on Good Friday. Jesus physical being died on Good Friday and that's good for us because that's the day our salvation was made possible.

Good friday represents the day Christ was crucified.
It is "good" because He died on the cross to save mankind from it's sins....that's a good thing!

(He took the sins of the world upon Himself so we wouldnt have to and was resurrected 3 days later to show the world He has eternal power over the death of sin)
