I always hear people rambling on and on about contradictions in the Bible. Please show me one. I've never found one. Most of the stuff people claim to be contradictions are just plain silly. They could easily be refuted by taking the scripture in its correct context or by using a concordance.

I've never asked this question on Y!A before.

Luke 23:53 & John 19:40 don't contradict. Not even close to it. They say the same thing but with a different piece of the story in each. A sunday school kid could have told you that.

I've seen atheists make feeble attempts at "proving" contradictions in the Bible. Some are very creative. And if a Christian does not know scripture very well, it's easy to be deceived.

You are correct that scripture has to be taken in the context it was given. Most people who try to disprove the Bible manipulate the words to suit their agenda. And they add a "See, look at all these contradictions, it can't be true! "

Those who read scripture and know scripture can tell anyone that the Bible is truly inerrant, and the spoken Word of God.

I found one the other day. Check Luke 23:53 and then compare it to John 19:40. Who would you believe? Anywho, I do believe that there are more.

That's because the bible doesn't contain contradictions. For anyone to say it does, just proves their lack of knowledge of Scripture.

You obviously don't have good comprehension skills.

I'm no bible scholar. I have better things to do with my time (like spend it on y/a), but I recall from my youth at a Catholic high school that even the two accounts of the birth of Jesus in the two gospel that cover it tell differing stories.

I remember getting into a lot of trouble from one of the christian brothers for pointing out contradictions rather than accepting dogma for dogma's sake.

Here's a list I just found on the net.

Get used to it. I've totally given up on showing the total misunderstanding of those intent on trying to do so. Every so-called contradiction that ANY atheist has ever posted in R&S, I have completely destroyed by showing them the fallacies they fell prey to in their sad, sad attempts. Whether it was a formal or informal fallacy, I outlined it, named it, and defined it for them. One atheist was so embarrassed by his ignorance after I utterly obliterated his "argument", that he has not been back since. I'll say this much for them- the only thing they're consistent at is making total fools out of themselves.

You should study these web-sites with an open mind, and then try to refute them intelligently. http://evilbible.com http://godisimaginary.com http://www.whywontgodhealamputees.com also http://www.annotatedbible.com/co http://atheistempire.com If there were as many holes in the theory of evolution as there are the bible, they would have disregarded Darwin as a crackpot a long time ago!

It is a stumbling block to those who are carnally minded. The Bible is truth to those who love the truth.. It is through God's spiritual revelation that the Bible becomes the living word of God.

Weigh it on the Spirit of God.
