a radar detector out of car...or it got stolen when it was at the repair shop..and they say it was locked at all times..no forced entry!!

File a Police report. You will have to have some proof they stole it to have them charged.

You could sue them civilly if you don't think they exercised enough care in securing your car while they had it. Depending on what you both bring to court it could go either way.

Most repair shops have it in their paperwork (estimate etc) that they are not responsible for items left in vehicles. A lot depends on if it was "installed" (hardwired) or laying in the car. You can still file a police report but I don't think they will work real hard to retreive an item that works against them. If not installed in the vehicle, it's doubtful insurance will cover it either.

If there was no witnesses. The only thing you could do is make a Police report, then notify your insurance company. You can also contact the Better Business Bureau, if there is one in you area. Depending on where you live, it may be know by a different name.

file a police report.....unless you signed something that said you will not hold them liable if anything gets stolen, then you are SOL.
