Islamic clerics these days are not educated well. If u ask our Islamic scholars then they would tell u that terrorism is forbidden in Islam by quoting verses from the Holy Quran. I'll give u an example. I belong to Pakistan and in our villages there are clerics who are complete illiterates. General education aside they don't kow a word of Quran so what do u expect . They tell people all the wrong stuff and the villagers who are themselves illiterate listen to them as if they are God's special people. They instigate them to do wrong deeds and consequently this is what happens. In order to stop this we need to educate our people. They spread hatred against people of other religions and even other sects within islam. I hope i answer your question because this is the only way i can put it.Islam does not teach terrorism!!!!!!

Just as there are bad people in every group--there are some bad and ignorant clerics in the world. Many of them live in countries where the majority of people are very poor, uneducated, and disenfranchised. In these cultures, western cultures seem to exude an arrogance that they feel offended by--as clerics are just normal people who may have a degree in Quranic studies, they are just as lead by their emotions as any one else. The other fact is that in most middle eastern countries the Mosques are paid for by the government. This means that the clerics are officially public servants and have to, for the sake of their careers, preach what the government wants them to. This is very much the case in both the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Iran. As a Muslim myself, I disagree with the policies and ideas that these two governments encourage and hope that the vast majority of clerics in the world--who are peace loving--will begin to speak out more publicly against this negative trend. Advocating violence as a solution to anything is short sighted and wrong. It is certainly not the example of the Prophet (PBUH) who took over Mecca in a bloodless coup and pardoned almost the entire population of people that had fought against him. These clerics are letting their ignorance,culture,and political ideas cloud what they should be preaching. The true beauty of Islam

I keep hearing from nonmuslims that hate and terrorism are encouraged in mosques but I have never in my life encountered this myself and I am a muslim! Its hard not to get annoyed because this is not true. if there are some clerics who are teaching this, they are obviously wrong but they are also rare. The media shows islam as if there is terrorism and killing going on left and right but this is an exaggeration. I've never even met a muslim who supported terrorism. I hope most people realize this.

For a start your question needs to be reworded. Terrorism is a means s to achieve a goal using terror tactics, like blowing yourself to bits and in the process kill many others. Its like any other war on the planet. B&B are terrorists too. So is Mugabe, Taksin, the South Africal apartheid regime, Israel , Saddam, and the list grows.
So, it is not only the muslims who preach terrorism but just about every other leader on the planet.

To answer your question , the clerics misinterpret the Quran to suit their own needs, according to their own whims and fancies. Its about power and fear. Men are like sheep in a flock. There is no international Islamic guide to preaching Islam.
Islamic countries have allowed their clerics too much personal freedom in their preaching in schools , to the detriment of the religion.
In my opinion , the religion has taken a few steps back and this saddens me because Islam is a wonderful way of life.

Because Islamic clerics want to see the U.S. destroyed. Islam is not a religion of peace; it is a religion of convert by the sword or die.

The U.S. has made some terrible mistakes, but I cannot think of a single country that has done more to help the world's people than the U.S. (foreign aid given, vaccines, food, rebuilding infrastructures destroyed by wars)

I also believe that haters, like Rosie O'Donnell, help fuel the fires of terrorism.

I am muslim and i never seen any REAL cleric talking of this, these days some of the clerics are involved in politics also like in Pakistan the opposition party is composed of these type of name sake clerics... but most of the clerics are realy really for the sake of God and their religion they have no interst in Politics, so i would say its only type of clerics who r some way linked with politics and want to use their words in a nice molding way to use people for their political purpose......may not b we but All world governments are aware of this fact that these all clerics who talk this are some way linked in politics and working for their motives.

In the Islamic world clerics hold a position of power. Keeping people fanatical suits them. If poeple get a little lax in their faith then they can stop believing altogether and then they would have no powerbase to control

Muslims in backward countries are deeply frustrated. They are not allowed to rebel against their leaders. The only outlet for their frustration is to lay blame on the evil of the west, of which christianity is historically one of their primary targets. It is the west that makes their governments treat them so badly, and that makes the west a good target for their pent up anger that has no other available outlet.
