then maybe just maybe there wouldnt be homeless people standing at walmart with their signs up. and just maybe alot of people would be warm next winter and the homless shelters wouldnt have women and small children in them, and just maybe people wouldnt be starving in the us. it is sad that a retired principal of a school gets 110k a year for being retired and our schools and the children in them do without.

Maybe I'm an asshole but I pay a mortgage every month using skills I sweated through college and found my own way to pay for-no one gave me anything. And I pay plenty of taxes. I don't think I owe the poor anything other than kindness.

That would be great. You should really look into something like that. I work minimum wage graveyard shift so my husband can be at home at night with our son (He was a preemie and he would get too sick at a day care) and I would even be willing to donate to something like that. A government grant to get started would be a good place to begin something like this. My husband and I were talking at one time about trying to get a grant to build an apartment building (Secure) for battered women...sort of a half-way type thing for them and their children.

Then they would expect us to maintain their homes, furnish their homes and fill their pantries...Wouldn't it be better to teach them a skill so they could do these things for themselves? Oh yes, we already do that. It's called public education.

I'd be willing to give more to help.
How can we be sure the money goes for that?
