I am a Christian, but I am extremely critical of my faith. I do not believe lightly and this is one of my major questions. Compare Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21. (If you're not already aware that the Jewish Temple was destroyed in AD 70 then do some research before attempting to answer here.) These prophecies outline the destruction of the Temple and then it goes on (Mt 24:29-30):

"But immediately after the tribulation of those days THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED, AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT, AND THE STARS WILL FALL from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. "And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF THE SKY with power and great glory.

Then it says in 34:

"Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place."

See my dilemma? Jesus said he'd come back, but he didn't. Only real answers please.

The gospel being preached in the whole world can be explained in that the original Greek word implied the Roman Empire and not the whole world as we know it today.

I also understand the prophecy in Daniel. In chapter 9 the prophecy of a decree to rebuild Jerusalem is set forth as the beginning point for the timeline. Look, however, at Isaiah 44:28 ("It is I who says of Cyrus, 'He is My shepherd! And he will perform all My desire.' And he declares of Jerusalem, 'She will be built,' And of the temple, 'Your foundation will be laid.'"). Kind Cyrus is supposed to be the issuer of the decree but the math doesn't add up from 539 BC whether you use lunar years or not. Perhaps you could weigh in on that as well.

You can go here (http://theblessedx.blogspot.com/2006/08/daniels-seventy-weeks.html) for one of my studies on Daniel. I make the math work out to Jesus, but that doesn't answer the prophecy in Isaiah 44:28.

Keep in mind Matt 24 covers a lot of territory, time wise. at least in the way we think of time. Yes some has been full filled and some has not. Jesus' point was to answer the disciples question " when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?" not a simple question to answer in a way that we could understand, thus the lengthy answer, which still leaves one asking more questions. However, head the warnings, "watch out that no one deceives you" and "Keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come." be prepareed for His return! and pray for understanding.

gee, have you learned nothing as a christian.
The Temple is the body of believers, not the actual building, Jesus also said that he would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days. He didn't actually destroy the building, but he rebuilt the people's faith. So when the actual building was destroyed Jesus did not come because the Jewish faith has not yet been destroyed. As for your other Scripture, you left out the two verses before v. 34. "Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When it's branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves. you know that summer is near" So Also when you see these all there things, you know that it is near-- at the doors". Basicly it means that once the signs from verse 29 and 30 begin, it will be less then one generation before Jesus comes. Also read v. 36....

I honestly don't have an answer for this. It is very good question. The only answer I could have is that there is another meaning to this generation passing away. I'm gonna look into to that.

oh now I get it. He said that after all the tribulations start happening the will be complete in that generation. He said this generation meaning the generation that was witnessing the tribulation not the present one. Immediately after is not the only translation. Soon after can mean any period of time.

ok.............hum................Well have you ever heard the phrase a minute to god is a thousand years? think of it that way. the time line could be relation to god not our time line. Stars cannot littorly fall but shooting stars knows as meteroites can and there have been plenty of meterorite showers between then and now so it possibly can be one in the future. The Moon in front of the sun can block out the sun and the moon can not give light. this eclipse happens like what one every so often.(you can look it up). Anyway don't worry to much on it what god wants is you to be fathful and not commit sin. so reading about the past and the possible future as no function for two reasons. 1. the past is the past you cannot change it. 2. the "End Time" you and all of us will most likely not live though it. The ulimate thing you can do for god and yourself is to try not to sin and repent to never do it again.

I have read the referenced scriptures, and I know that the Jewish temple was destroyed in 70AD; however, the fact of the matter is, His timing is not our timing. Isaiah 55:8 says, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord."
Also, in Psalm 90:4 it says, "For a thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night."
And again in 2 Peter 3:8,9, "But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."
We will never understand His timing, but He has not forgotten His promises. Rest assured, it will come to pass.

There is no reason to go into great detail to answer your question.

No one knows when Jesus will return, not even Jesus, Only God our Father knows the hour and day.

If you go to verse 36
No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels, nor the Son,but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah,
so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

False prophesy, I don't think so.

If you are so critical of your faith read all verses, don't pick and choose and call Jesus your Lord a liar.

It's bad enough non-believers do it.

Jesus said not even He nor the angels knew the hour but only God Himself. Also Jesus is not just talking of the gospel but He said the Gospel of the kingdom. Not the gospel of faith, not the gospel of prosperity, of healing, etc. It's not just preaching but testifying ( being a witness ) Displaying His power to all nations.

The rapture is earlier this. Armageddon is close to the top of the tribulation era. the 2d coming and the rapture are 2 separate activities. The rapture happens first. Then Israel is judged in the process the 1st 3 a million/2 years of the tribulation. Then the final 3 a million/2 years is the judgment at something of mankind- then the 2d coming.
